how tacky is it ...

to ask for the people in the bridal party to give their (hopefully $$ gifts) at the rehearsal dinner?

my FH and I are coming up short and would appreciate the gifts early to pay for things that day.

has anyone done this? is there a polite way to ask?

Can you borrow some money from your parents?

I wouldnt ask the bridal party unless they were my family which they are. My sis is my MOH, his sister is a BM, his brother is a groosman and my brother in law is a groosman. My other BM is my cousin, his best man is his best friend. I may ask some to give cash, like my sister because I did that for her, and she would give it to me the day before if I asked. It's up to you and your relationship with your bridal party. I wouldn't throw out a general request, but I would say to the ones you are closest to that you are going to be short and were hoping to get some gifts early and see how they respond.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you should do this. We are in the same situation and although we thought to ask, we just cannot do it. Instead, we're either going to take out a loan or borrow the money from his mom. Then we'll pay back whatever we owe. It's just too tacky. JMHO

Dont do it!
The people in your wedding party have spent enough money just being a part of the wedding, i wouldnt expect much from any of them.
Ask a relative to borry money.

Don't feel bad. The majority of our wedding is on our credit card

Maybe you can cut back on something if you are coming up short?

Remove some food during the cocktail hour? Or cut the dessert hour.?

In the long run it will be better.

It's credit cards and loans for us too. I would exhaust every other option before going down that road.

No way!!!!Dont even think about that. Charge it, sell your body, do something, dont 'turn off' your BP the days before your wedding
