HOW the HE!! do I quit my sucky job?

Should I be nice about it and tell them today and finish the pay week? Tell them today and not come back at all?

Tell them Thursday (end of pay period) and just come pick up my check Friday?

Not say anything, tell them I'm not coming in Friday, come get my check and then hand in a letter and walk out??

Even though you hate the job...I wouldnt burn any bridges...you never know if you need them as a local reference for a new job!!

I would tell you company, today, that Thursday is your last day and you will pick up you check on Friday.

Even if you hate it, you should do the proper thing and give them at least a week's notice, if not the standard two weeks. IMO, that's just courtesy unless they have been beyond horrible to you.

I agree with you, but it's an hourly job and they are probably going to turn around and say don't bother coming in.....and the preschool wants me ASAP. Plus this week is the end of the pay period, and to be quite honest with you, I don't think I could make it another 2 weeks here.....my mental state is NOT good.

Too bad I don't have my therapist....

I also think you should give them as much notice as possible. If they tell you not to come in, that's just a bonus!

You could do what I did at my last job....walk up to your supervisor and say 'I'd like to give my two weeks notice...a week and a half ago.'

HAHA thats too funny...I would give my company 1 weeks notice too....I agree that you dont want to do anything wrong when you are leaving a place of employment. You never know what is going to happen in the future...

If it's not a job in your industry and you'd never use them as a reference, don't worry about giving notice.

I'd usually say take the high road and give them notice, but if they aren't treating you right, then forget it.

I once quit a truly horrible job, and gave 2 weeks notice. I told my boss at around 4:30pm that day (I had only decided a few hours early to quit because my boss just pushed me too far...) When I told him, he proceeded to YELL at me -- 'Why didn't you tell me eariler in the day?!?!?!'

I should've left right then and there. But like an idiot I stayed the 2 weeks
