How to address invites when you don't really mind children there?

Hey,

FH and I would prefer people leave their children at home, but we don't mind having children at the wedding. At first we were going to put everyones first names including the children on the envelope, but now I'm not sure if I should do this. We have a space on the RSVP card that says ___number attending. So should I just put the adults name on the card? That way they may just decide to come without the child whereas if we put the child name on the envelope they may automatically decide to bring the child? I don't know if I made this clear, but here is an example. Let's say Aunty X has 3 children. If I address the envelope Aunty X, ChildX1, ChildX2, ChildX3, then she will probably bring them for sure. However, if I address the envelope Aunty X then she may not decide to bring the kids, but if she put down 4 on the RSVP card then I know that she is bringing them...

What do ya'll think?

I wrote the names of the invited adults on the inside envelope.

We are 'inviting' the children as much as I diddn't want to. So the child names are going on the inside...however, if I were you I would leave it up to the parents and not include child names on the envelope.

If the kids are invited:

I addressed it as
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith & Family

If I knew the kids names:
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
Jane Smith and Bob Smith

Hope this helps!

The way I did it if the whole family was invited, was I put The Shambry Family. But that probably doesn't really help you.

i would just write the adults' names on the envelopes, and leave it to the adults to write their childrens' names on the response card if they are bringing them.

I think if you leave out the '& Family' they will assume the kids are not invited. If you add in '& Family' they will think they are invited and bring them or not anyway.

I don't think you have to list each child's name. Just address the outer envelope with Mr & Mrs. and Family.
