Fi and I have booked Flower Michele for our 5/07 wedding. The contract's signed, but now we actually have to tell the florist what to do. How do we do this?
We already talked about stuff like how many bouquets, general flowers to be used (peonies in bouquets, peonies and stargazer lilies in centerpieces)--really high level stuff. But now I want to get more specific.
How do I this? E-mail photos? Where do I get pics? I'm also doing the wedding from out of state, so if e-mail's the way to go, I'm all for it.
I look forward to your advice!

Re: How to communicate with florist?
i would call and ask when and how they want to finalize flowers. i met with burtons a few weeks ago and booked them. i told them the ideas i had and he said when it gets closer well meet to finalize everything. for pictures i would either look through here or the knot has some really good ideas.

Re: How to communicate with florist?
I'm going through this with my florist now and I find that pictures are really helpful. I've also found that I can write down my vision much more easily than I can explain it verbally, so I got my florist's e-mail address and attached a bunch of pictures and wrote him an e-mail with the details of what I was looking to do.
You may also want to discuss specific flowers with your florist. For example, I love miniature cala lillies, but I learned that they were too expensive for me to incoporate into my centerpieces, so I'm just doing them in my bouquet. There are also flowers that I really didn't want and I needed to explain that as well.
Also, many florists give you a very vague proposal and contract. Make sure you ask them to itemize it for you so you know exactly what you're paying for each element (ie. per centerpiece, per bouquet, etc). I also asked him to give me a list of the flowers that he'd be using, so I'd have some record in case there were any problems down the road.
Hope that's helpful!

Re: How to communicate with florist?
I booked Barbara at FM, she likes to wait till 4 months before the wedding to finalize everything, because we change our minds all the time. I emailed her and will see her after the Holidays maybe Febreuary to see a same and discuss the finalization of Flowers.
