We had 4 people (two couples) that didn't show up to the wedding. We haven't heard from either pair as or now. Should we write an email/call to make sure theye're okay?

Re: How to handle no-show's to the wedding?
I would. The only no-shows we had called us the night before because their infant daughter had pneumonia.

I had no shows. I didn't care to ask them why they didn't come. There were also no gifts.
I wrote it off.

I would do the same thing, if it happened to me.

I would call if it is really out of character for those people not to come. We had a few people not come at the min. too and for the most part it was because of unexpected circumstances.

Depending on their relationship to you - if it's your side, I'd email; if it's his side, I'd ask DH to email. They didn't send a message with someone to let you know what happened?

Chris-I personally wouldnt bother...I think it is very inconsiderate for people dont show up without calling...hopefully they're ok and safe, but I wouldnt bother.

I agree that if it's out of character to call, but honestly, I would wait on this also and see if they contact you. I've never not showed up to a wedding, but if for some unforeseen circumstance happened, I would be running to the phone to call the a day or two after the wedding to offer my apologizes and explain what happened.
They haven't even attempted to call you yet???

yes me too
ETA: but i can see how the curiosity of what the heck happened to them would make you wonder and want to call and find out-- totally understandable but i would just forget about it b/c it's really not right not to call (unless a tragedy happened)-- so i wouldn't bother. sorry they did that!!

Just spoke to one online...she had food posioning...which unfortunately I don't believe as she spoke to another guest that came to the wedding that said she was 'on her way when she last spoke to her.' Whatever...let's see if the gift comes through!
Just kidding...as long as she's okay, that's all that matters.

Re: How to handle no-show's to the wedding?
Do people realize that when couples count them as a 'yes', that means they are being paid for? I just can't get over how RUDE it is to NOT SHOW UP at a wedding without any notice, like it's a housewarming party or something! We had two instances like that for our e-party... and we're automatically being counted as 'no's' for the wedding, even if they say 'yes' on the rsvp. They're NOTORIOUS for just not showing. It's easier to add than take away!
I just can't get over how INCONSIDERATE it is that they didn't even CALL you! I would be so pissed... and 'food poisoning'... come on. Think of something more original! Did she apologize? Is she sending a gift? What about the other person? I would definitely call and say something like, 'Just wanted to see if you're okay. We were concerned that you didn't come to our wedding. We were expecting you...'
Ugh... the nerve!!!

Re: How to handle no-show's to the wedding?
We had three no shows. Two were single women who were both my side. One was my uncle's girlfriend who is very ill and the other was my dad's friend who is nutty and had a concussion or something. We didn't get gifts from either.
Then the other no show was a date of my good friend, I guess they broke up right before the wedding.

We had about 8 no shows-- some called and some didn't. We also had 230 at the wedding, and i expected there would be a few no-shows in the bunch. You have to expect it at the wedding!

Re: How to handle no-show's to the wedding?
haven't spoken to my no-shows. i got some reason from one couples daughter-there was some 'confusion' and they thought i knew they wouldn't be coming. whatever. another 'friend called me 3 days before the wedding-left a message-and it was too late by then for me not to be charged. i had to pay for food but not the bar for all my no shows. that 'friend' has never called or emailed me since and never sent a gift. so i don't plan to ever call her.

i wouldn't say anything. it might look like you're fishing for presents (IMO.)

It's one thing to have something happen that they can't make it last minute but to still not have contacted you at this point to at least give a reason is just rude. I wouldn't give them the time of day.

SpinOff Question:
How do you know you didn't have 'no-shows'? i feel like there are going to be so many people, will you really notice if 4 are missing? Is it just because they didn't sign the guest book or no gift and you ask around and find out they weren't there?
