How to handle no-show's to the wedding?

Original post by ChrissynRicky

We had 4 people (two couples) that didn't show up to the wedding. We haven't heard from either pair as or now. Should we write an email/call to make sure theye're okay?

I had no shows. I didn't care to ask them why they didn't come. There were also no gifts.

I wrote it off.

SpinOff Question:

How do you know you didn't have 'no-shows'? i feel like there are going to be so many people, will you really notice if 4 are missing? Is it just because they didn't sign the guest book or no gift and you ask around and find out they weren't there?

You will notice. If their placecard is still on the table or the seat is empty. You can also ask your Maitre 'D to package up meals you paid for but were not eaten.

the no shows are not worth my time... i had a long time friend who was a no show at BOTH the shower and the wedding!! If I saw her on the street i would walk by her and pretend i didnt even know her... she isnt worth trying to contact after what she pulled...

I am right there with you. I was a no show once (booo hisss) because I couldn't walk 3 feet without throwing up. My ex/date was in the same condition...I FedExed the couple their gift, card and a long apology the next day via priority overnight. It is really the no-show's responsibility to provide you with an explanation if one exists, and you certainly don't have to seek them out.

I had no shows at my wedding. One called me the next day to apologize for him and his girlfriend showing up the NEXT DAY (not sure whether I believe them or not) and said that he had a gift for us (6+ months later...maybe the mail is reeeeeally slow). My other friend called me 3 days before, but after she was paid for, to tell me she didn't feel well (??) and that she had a gift for me. It's probably keeping that other gift company.

You will definitely notice! Especially when you go around to each table and those seats are empty!

I'm sorry - but if people pull a no-show with no apology, and explanation whatsoever, I think that is extremely rude, and I would be annoyed at that.... as Buddhist as I am!
