How to properly address invitations

How should you correctly address a wedding invitation to a dating couple who aren't living together? I have changed them from Mr. So and So & Guest. But, my fiance's side of the family said you should name the girlfriend/boyfriend as well.

How to properly address invitations

If you know the name of the girlfriend or boyfriend then yes you should put their name on it as well. Usually you put guest when you are inviting a guest you don't know.

If I know the boyfriend/girlfried/fiance/date/ whoever I'm putting 'Mr. John Smith & Ms. Jane Doe' and sending the invitation to the address of the person we are most friendly with (in the case where it's two close friends of ours who are dating I just asked them which person I should mail it to).

I agree with Laura Suzanne, I would be highly insulted if someone did not write my name on the invitiation. You took the time to ask for the address, also ask for the boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance/date/ name.

For FH co-workers, we addressed the outer envelopes as Mr & Mrs for the married couples and he asked for the spouse's 1st name for the inner envelope.

How to properly address invitations

If they are a long-term couple, I would put their significant others' name on the invitation. For one of my friends, I put So and So and Guest, and she told me her boyfriend couldn't come and asked me if she could bring a random friend instead. I was like...eh...

Re: How to properly address invitations

If I know them I'm putting their name, and if I don't I'm putting 'and Guest' it's mostly just friends in this situation and they don't care that much whether I'm being formal or not lol.
