How to use a curling iron

I know this may sound really stupid, but does anyone know the best way to use a curling iron and to get the curls to stay??? TIA!

Whenever I use one I get a dent in my hair rather then a curl... HAHA. My friends laugh at me when I try to attempt it on my own. LOL

It's also about what you put in your hair before you curl, to help hold the curl. As far as curling just wrap the piece of hair around the curling iron, make sure you get the tip bc many times people dont and then that part is straight and sticks out weird. One tip my hair stylist the day of wedding gave was to pin the hair after you curl it for a little bit, it holds the curls in more and will last longer

'the dent' is because you are turning the curling iron the wrong direction

Espo- this is a great trick, pinning the curls, it is how Ken Paves makes Jessica Simpsons curls so great.

I'm too impatient for curling irons, lol- I just use my 1' flatiron, I find the curls stay better. For product I like Sebastian Hair Spray. It seems to work the best for cheap, you can get it at walgreens.

Same here. I wasn't sure if this was 'correct' but it seems to work for me lol. My curls stay in even without product this way!

I tired to use my flatiron and im a little bit of a spaz when it comes to using it! I have naturally curly hair but every once in a while I like to blow it out with the long soft curls. How are you girls curling your hair with your flat iron? I always end up bruning my fingers!!!

Years ago I used to have patience to do this but now i never curl my hair, well not its short so i cant but even before that. Whenever I needed it curled for an event i had it done at a salon so bc of that i rarely have my hair curled

i very rarely curl my hair anymore. i have such thick long hair, that if i REALLY curl it and take my time, it will take me 2 HOURS!!! who has that kind of patience!?!??! not me!! but when i do, i make sure that my hair isn't squeaky clean. and i use hair spray but i'm definitely going to take some of these pointers because sometimes they don't hold very well!

I actually just started to get the technique recently. The last time I curled my hair I burnt myself on my rest pretty bad. I have a scar there so hopefully it fades soon. I leave the curling to my sister now...she does hair.

I can never get curls to stay in my hair with a curling iron.. EVER!!!! Now I use eletric rollers. I put them in my hair for 15 minutes and it actually stays! Sometimes my hair gets a little extra big and if it does I just flat iron the top and then it looks much better!

im a ninja when it comes to the curling iron..

-make sure its ceramic
-and make sure u spray this product called 'hot springs' in your hair.. VERY LITTLE of it so ur hair doesnt look crunchy and hard

i think loreal makes it.. its a small hot pink bottle.. for like 3$ ( curls last til the next morning)

take small sections of ur hair and wrap them AROUND the curling iron AWAY from ur face... when ur done, GENTLY pull the curls apart for a fuller look.

if u look at my pix.. i did loose curls..took me bout 10 min

I cant believe you did those curls!! They look great :)
when you say wrap hair around the curling iron, do you literally mean just that? or do you put the hair under that leaver thing and wrap it that way??

hmm I'll have to try that product. Is it a hair spray? Spray gel? Mousse?

Do you put the spray in before, after or during the curling? Your curls do look great!

Re: How to use a curling iron

u girls are too nice. those look like sheit

sometimes i put the hair under that lever.. but usually just wrap the piece around the barrel ,AWAY from the face

its a spray for curling irons. its strong.. more like a spritz..so dont use a lot of it..and do NOT spray each section with it.. just spray ur hair all at once. 3 spritz should be fine
and u can finish it off with reg hair spray.
