I know I'm late but I just got home last night. We visited my friend in PA, she moved to the poconos a year ago. My suggestion is beware of mapquest! I thought it was cool how detailed the directions were but it ended up confusing us. I wasn't familiar with Rt 80 express vs. local and the directions were telling me to take exit 43 but only to get off of the express to drive on the local. Well we got off at the exit and drove around Jersey, because of the detour we ended up stopping for lunch ( I didn't want to make any stops on the trip but the detour took about hour). Anyway, there was no reason for mapquest to have us get off the express because they eventually merge and take you into PA. Basically, the moral of the story is don't trust Mapquest! LOL
We were visiting poconos as I said. It really is secluded and beautiful. Personally I didn't like the new developments that you see advertised. The houses were gorgeous but it was lacking something... Probably because no one lived in the development yet!
Now FH and I are the type to stay in and watch a movie or TV but we do like to go out. Not much to do unless you drive... Oh yeah and around those curvy mountainous roads people drive FAST! And at night there are no street lights.
When we were leaving FH was asking me if we could buy a house! He's so cute. I just think it's an entirely different pace than what we are used to. I think it's a great place to visit but I just couldn't picture myself living there. At least I got a lot of info for my parents who will most likely be moving there in a few years.
Then yesterday FH got a new car. Well its not new its used but it was a gift from his parents. His mom was so happy and she said she did it for us so we can save money. I was so greatful because I'm going to need a new care soon too and financing two cars... So we sent her an edible arrangement, his parents should be getting it today.
So today is my birthday and it's just not a pretty day. We have an appointment with burton's and then I think we will hang out at barnes and noble or a border's. It's going to be just the two of us for dinner because it's a weeknight. I told him I didn't want to do anything fancy or gifts because we have a lot coming up with the wedding and apartment searches I'd rather focus on those things and just celebrate birthdays for now.
Tomorrow I meet with an Officiant and then PWP florist at Fox Hollow on Thursday so hopefully it will be a productive week before I return to school! Eeek!

Re: How was everyone's weekend?
Yeah mapquest is retarded alot of times...it gave me directions last week and there was this added part that made no sense it confused me bc honestly it made no sense, it was telling me to get on this highway further from my house and take it to the highway that is right by my house only to get back on the first highway it was the stupidest thing. So we just ignored half of what it said lol.
Glad you got to get away. I agree with you, FH has a house in the poconos and i love to get away for the weekend and go, although we havent in months bc of softball lol but personally I couldn't live there. Its just not what i am used to thats it. I grew up in queens and always hung out in the city. I wish i knew you were going, i would've recommended this AMAZING restaurant, maybe for next time. It's called sycamore grill, the food is DELICIOUS!!!! great prices, they even have a bar area to hang out at.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry about the weather, don't let it bring you down...hope you have an amazing birthday

Happy Birthday!!!
And, not only is mapquest ridiculous, but, PA is too! I always get confused.
For example:
It might tell you to make a right on N. 20th st. And, in NY, you find 20th st, you assume it's N, and you turn. In PA, there will be a 20th st, and then N 20th st. If that makes sense.
Roads are all screwed up around here!

Re: How was everyone's weekend?
Well, if my parents buy a house in the poconos I can always stay with them!
The biggest problem was jobs. I would be ok because there is a hospital and nursing home that I can work at but for FH it would probably be more difficult being in finance.
I even told him if we moved out here and I had the 11p-7a shift at the nursing home he would have to drive me to and from work because Im not driving in the middle of the night in the woods! LOL.
It was a last minute trip I didn't know we were going definately until Friday and we left Saturday morning but I would love to visit again so I'll get your recs next time.

yeah not sure how many opportunities in the financial industry. Also don't know if the pay will be the same.
OMG driving there at night is crazy. I remember the first time i drove down there and we were driving through the woods, i couldn't see a thing in front of me and on top of that the roads are all curved and keep changing direction and the whole time i was afraid a deer would jump out, so i drove with the high beams on, of course turning them off when a car from the other direction passed by. FH has been driving there for a little over 10 years so he is used to it and knows the roads and which way it is turning so i guess you get used to it

The best is how quiet it is there though. when we got home, the next day I woke up to hearing the LIRR passing twice, someone sawing wood, a few cars starting up, and I actually heard FHs neighbor dialing his phone.... apparently he had a lot of calls to make that morning!

Happy Birthday!!
I’ve had horrible luck with Mapquest too—it’s usually a big old mess. If you could, could you FM me or something about the PWP florist? I’m curious about using him but am so busy this week!
TIA!

haha it freaks me out sometimes...One time FH and I went out to smoke in the front, it was late at night probably 2am or later. It was too quiet and dark that it freaked me out...then we kept hearing sounds like something in the bushes, i got so freaked...theres alot of deer around there so probably what it was or a bunny or something lol but scary
