How were you tricked into going to your shower?

Since so many are happening lately, I think it would be fun to hear how they got you there.
Were you really surprised, only partly, or none at all?

ETA: Where was it held?

I was invited over someone's house for dinner.
I was surprised.

Since I knew my sister waited till the last moment ( my wedding is on the 13th had shower labor day weekend) to plan it all she and my mother told me they couldnt get everyone together. So the three of us were going to go out for dinner. I must admit its VERY hard to suprise me. But they did. ALl my friends and bridal party were at the restaurant. ( I did know what was up as we pass the restaurant though because I saw my friend get out of her car

Even though my showers (baby and bridal) were a while ago, I'll tell my stories!

My bridal shower:
My coworker ( ) spoiled the surprise! (by mistake) She left me a voicemail saying 'So Sorry I wont be around, the weekend of August 27th'.. I was like . Thing was, my sister gave all the 'Work' invites to another girl, and this girl inter-officed them. So the girl who got it, thought I interofficed them, and that it wasnt a surprise. She STILL got GRILLED for it, and people were like 'ARE YOU THAT STUPID ????????'
So I had to tell my sister about it. She was working so hard on it, that I COULDNT EVER do something phony and fake that I Was surprised. I just couldnt. Well for a few minutes, she tried to tell me it WASNT That weekend. and then she caved in and was SOO ANGRRYYY and was screaming about this IDIOT that ruined it. She just told me to act surprised... I HATE 'not being myself' so I was kinda bummed about having to put on an act... It was too close to the date, and she couldnt change the date, no way...
Well GUESS WHAT?? SHE changed the date !!!!
and I WAS TOTALLYYYY SURPRISEDDDDDD !!!!
I thought it was a friend's daughter's christening!
I was extremely surprised. My sister even bought me an outfit (we do this for eachother all the time) and she KNEW I'd wear it that day, since I had 'somewhere to go' and she wore the same exact outfit (we're twins ) We love doing these 'same outfit' days still in our old age

My baby shower... I HAD NO IDEA !!
I mentioned a few times 'I would have it at my house if I was planning it' about my shower. because I have plenty of room and we can even set up in the backyard...etc.
So one day, hubby and I went to the beach in the morning, just to walk around.. then we went for pizza... then my sister called me on my cell, and said spur of the moment, her and her hubby and kids were all coming by. and she knows i'd drop ANYTHING to see my neices and nephew.. SO I made my hubby RUSH us home, because my sister was coming over!
We get home, and I see people on my lawn. and Im like What are those people doing in front of our house ??? and sure enough it was over 50 people, and my sis and close friends were holding HUGE BRIGHT SIGNS saying 'SURPRISE ITS YOUR BABY SHOWER' I was shaking and shocked !!!!!!

Those are my stories!

My bridal shower is next weekend, Sept 13th and as you can read I know all about it. I made an appt for my first dress fitting for that day. I went to my dad's to tell him and his wife told me I 'HAD' to change it. She had this huge grin on her face..

The next day I got a phone call from my MOH (who is my Sister-in-law) asking me if I wanted to go antiquing that weekend. I told my FI, I think my Bridal Shower is that weekend and he told me a friend of his wife got the invite and it was Sept 13th.

So not a suprise. The unfortunate thing was I wasn't even trying to figure it out. I just did by accident!

A brunch for a friends' sister who was going away to school. I kinda knew though..lol

My sisters thought I was suspicious, so they sent me on a wild goose chase.

They called me at 11 am on a Saturday and said for me to meet them at a certain restaurant for lunch at 12. I immediately knew it was my shower.

When I got to the restaurant, nobody was there...the waitress approached me with a card. It was a beautiful sister card and inside it said...'gotcha...it's not here, go to my SIL's house'.

When I got to my SIL's house there was note on the door that said...'gotcha again and to go to my sisters house'.

Sure enough, when I got there, there was another note that said...'go to SOLE' (another restaurant) and that's finally where my shower was.

It was a very cute idea.

DH and I moved to Florida after we got engaged. So it was quite a challenge for my mom to figure out how to get me to fly to NY without telling me.
So about 4 months before my shower she tells me that she is having a suprise 75th B-day party for my grandmother and she's paying for my ticket due to all the expenses with the wedding.
So I get to NY and I called my MOH and told her to come over I had all kinds of things I wanted to get done since I was up anyway.(Never knowing she was in on it) My Mom said she would run errands with us, since she had to drop off the deposit for the party anyway. So we get to restuarant and we go to walk inside to meet the manager. As I open the door I see all these ballons and people yellling suprise and my first thtought was OH SH** I walked in on someones suprise party!! I was mortified!! Then I recognized my friends and I was like what are they doing here, and then it hit me!

My sister aka MOH planned my shower....She got stationary from my catering hall and sent me a letter inviting me and our parents to a Food Tasting.....I totally bought considering she also had them in on it and he told me there would be a food tasting.......Some people thought it would bother me that she had it at the same place, but I didnt mind because I know how hard it is to get me somewhere and for her to go through the trouble she did, I was very overwhelmed with happy emotions, I could care less.

When my moh got married I was her MOH...anyway, I had been dating my now FI for 3.5 years so she couldnt wait for us to get engaged so we could plan together. Well One day I called her and told her I had big news I wanted to tell her in person, could we get together at this restaurant for lunch. She was so convinced I was engaged that she went shopping for a gift but her FI convinced her to wait until I told her the news afterall it could be something not so happy. Anyway, her and FI actually get into a minor fender bender on the way there so she never expected it until she got in the room and everyone yelled!
She said it was mean of me to mislead her but hey I surprised her which I never thought I would be able to do!

I was not surprised at all. It was my house & I had to go away for the weekend! I didn't want to be surprised
