I feel weird calling FH's mom 'Mom'. Maybe eventually it will change but now I call her by her first name. FH already calls my 'mom' so there will be no difference in that.

i call fh's mom babs and his dad bill sometimes, they haven;t said to cal lthem anything else. My parents told joe to call them mom and dad and he thought that was adorbale.

I was just talking to my own parents about this the other day....and I was going to post the same question!
In my culture calling older people by their first name is a big no no..so I call my FH's parents Mr. and Mrs. Traditionally Iin my culture I should call them mom and dad after we get married but I dont feel comfortable doing that , it is strange to me. Equally strange to call them mr and mrs. i guess so maybe I will force myself to start calling them mom and dad after we get married.
He calls my parents by their first name.. which makes me cringe lol. He is Italian-- which is not what my background is, but I would think it would be similar in his culture i.e. calling someone mom and dad or some sort of title rather than first names?
Im italian and we usually call older people by Mr and Mrs. I was taught to NEVER call an adult by their first name which is why i have such trouble calling my in-laws anything.

You know, it's funny. I've been having this discussion recently with FH and apparently FBIL brought this up to FIL's the other night.
After 9 years, I still call them Mr. & Mrs. X. I have no idea how the transition is going to go. FBIL says I will never be able to call them by their first names (they're weird like that), and I'm going to go straight from Mr. & Mrs. to mom and dad. I told FBIL that until they make the initiative, I will continue to call them Mr. & Mrs.
It is kind of the same here too. But we recently moved in with FMIL and everyone said (including her) to call her by her first name but it is really hard for me. FH busts my chops and says I should only call her Ms. X. I think it might be easier to call her mom than by her first name, I guess it is just the way I grew up calling all my friends parents Mr.&Mrs. X.
