we did- we'd like to introduce for the first time as husband and wife- mr and mrs. robert XXXXX I just wanted to hear HIS name- I dont know when I will ever hear on mic for everyone to hear that I am MRS. Robert XXXXXX, so thats why I chose not to use my name.

Legally, I am a hyphenate and for work purposes, I only use my maiden name, but I liked the idea of just using our married name in the introduction ... as long as my first name was included in the announcement.
I ended up having a little disagreement with the bandleader about how I wanted it done though. I wanted him to say, 'For the first time as Mr. & Mrs, Kim and Pete MarriedName.' That way I figured we could work in the Mr. and Mrs. without it sounding awkward. The bandleader said that he always does it as 'Mr. and Mrs. Kim and Pete Married Name.' I tried to expalin to him that I thought that sounded a little weird, b/c the Mr. comes first and then the woman's name comes first, but he said that his way was the 'right' way to handle it.
In the moment, I was so annoyed that he wouldn't budge, but when they actually introduced us, I didn't hear him say the words anyway. Before I knew it, the door to the ballroom was thrown open and everyone was cheering, so it pretty much became a non issue.
And the band was so fantastic that until right now I forgot how annoyed I was with him during the cocktail hour...lol
