How will you decide who to spend the holidays with?

I will not be doing holidays right away. We will be doing what we always do split the day. His family eats really early on holidays (12-1) so we eat there and then go to my house at 3 and eat again. However for these upcoming holidays I will only be eating once. Gotta fit into that dress!!! eta-I should mention that our families live less than 15 minutes away from each other so we are lucky!

We split holidays as well. But being that my FI's parents live upstairs, we go there first, and then to mommies. It's worked for the past 4 years, so we stuck to it. When we own our own home, I plan on entertaining there, and hosting.

We alternate holidays (Christmas with my folks one year, New Year's with his, etc.).

Christmas eve is a bigger party with my family...we do the traditional italian fish feast at my grandparents'. FH's family has hero and cold salads at his aunt's house on Christmas Eve. WTH?! Sooooo Christmas Eve will definitely be at my house...and we'll split Christmas day. My family gets up early, his doesn't start until 12ish.

We've got it all figured out already. Thanksgiving is his family, Easter is his family for dinner, mine for dessert, Christmas Eve is his family during the day, mine in the evening, Christmas Day is opposite.

we split the holidays (ex' Christmas eve - FH's house, Christmas day - my parents house, new yrs eve - my parents, new yrs day - fh's house

FH and I will not be splitting days. We believe once you are at one place, that is where you should stay. I don't want to have to rush dinner down my throat at one place to catch dinner at the next. Just our opinions though. So what we have decided is to have Christmas eve at my family since his family doesn't celebrate Christmas eve and Christmas day at his family. Then we decided one family will be easter and the other will be thanksgiving. This is the first year we will be spendng holidays together and we did not know where to begin the splt. (we are both very close with out families and even though we have been dating for 6 and a half years, we always separated on all holidays exept Christmas Eve). But it actually worked out because since my cousins wedding is the day after thanksgiving, my family is not having thanksgiving at all this year (I am so upset!) so we spent easter with my family and we will spend thanksgiving with his. Next year we will switch. It should work out!

Holidays are split or rotated...
Example: Last year FH Family did not get together for Thanksgiving... everyone went to there in laws: So we should have gone to my family. Christmas FH's family got together...
This year FH's family will get together for Thanksgiving and not for Christmas! So it gives everyone a chance to be with there own family!
It seems to work great!

FH's family is in CT and mine is on LI, so we rotate. His parents have been spending Christmas in Florida, so the last few years we've been spending it with my family, but when they stop that we're going to do this:
Easter/Thanksgiving - alternate Christmas Eve - Morning - my parents Christmas Day - FH's parents

I will not be hosting any holidays for a while ( i need to master cooking first lol) so until then we'll be doing what we always do - split the Holidays fair and square. So last year we spent Xmas Eve with FH's family and Christmas Day with my family, Easter with my family and Thanksgiving with his family.

Well as soon as we get the house I am hoping to host the holidays...but for now.... My family does X-mas eve with all the yummy fish and stuff (really italian) so we usually go to my parents for Christmas eve and his parents Christmas day....all the other holidays we go to one for dinner and one for dessert..... Nice and easy

ugh, that whole thing makes me naseous, but i think we got it worked out. his family's in tx, mine in on li so we can't split days, but his family's jewish so my family gets us for christmas and i think we're going there for thanksgiving. we haven't gotten it all quite worked out yet, but hopefully no one will get too pissed off...

We split the holidays. FH's family gets Christmas Eve dinner and my family gets Christmas dinner (except last year my aunt almost died and everyone was at the hopsital).
And the past 3 years we have alternated Easter & Thanksgiving.

Well FH's family does not really celebrate holidays - he has always spent Christmas Eve with us and pretty much every other holiday - since it is just his mom and brother we will probably just have both families together for all holidays(even though i wish I could stay with just mine!)
