Ladies, how do you intend to remember those who have passed on at your wedding? We are really struggling with issues like the father - daughter dance (Amanda's dad has passed). Any ideas with ceremony or reception would be appreciated.

Re: How will you remember loved ones who have passed?
I am sorry to hear that!
My aunt just passed away in January and for that I am having her daughter do a reading at the church and also we are getting programs made for the church and on the back it will have the people that have passed away in our lives.

Re: How will you remember loved ones who have passed?
My FH's older brother passed away 4 years ago and his father just passed away this past Christmas. I know it is going to be very hard for him not having them at the wedding.
We are most likely going to do something subtle (a table with 2 inscribed glass candle holders or vases and put a single rose in each in memory of them).
As far as the father/daughter dance...does your daughter have any brothers or any close uncles? Or, I have seen mother/daughter dances at weddings...she could dance with you.
Hope this helps.

My father passed away also. It is very difficult getting married without him. I never thought that I had to plan on how to remember my dad on my wedding day but sadly this is the reality. It will be difficult for your daughter but she just needs to remember how happy he would be for her and that he is present in spirit. I plan on dedicating the wedding mass to my Dad and havig a memory candle lit at the reception for him.
As far as the father/daughter dance I plan on dancing with my mother and having a photo montague of me with my dad play as we dance.

Re: How will you remember loved ones who have passed?
Both my parents are deceased and my FH's grandfather passed last year. My wedding colors are blue and yellow, my moms fave color and my dads. We will most likely include a note in the back of the program for those who we love who could not be with us. At the reception, I'd like to bring some photos as well and place them on the fireplace mantle.
I have asked my brother to walk me down my aisle, and will be doing the father/daughter dance with my uncle. They mean so much to me, and they've been my father figure since my father has been gone.

Re: How will you remember loved ones who have passed?
My uncle had died when my cousin got married. She danced with her brother to a song, and had a montage of her and her father in the background. It was the sweetest thing I ever seen at a wedding.
In remembrance of our loved ones, I want to do a memory table of our grandparents, and uncles. At church there will be a reading for them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Today is actually the 3rd anniversary of my FH's mother's passing and it's been very emotional planning the wedding without her.
We are doing the rose ceremony for her at the mass, and then keeping a light candle for her at the reception. FH is also dancing with his aunt to 'Look to the sky' by Train in memory of his mom.

Neither of FH parents are alive. For the Mother/Son dance my FH is going to be dancing with my mom.
Since both of his parents are nto alive we are also going to go a dance in their honor. We are going to have his two brothers and their wives and us dance to their parent's wedding song.

Dear Ones, thank you so much for your loving suggestions. We have video of Amanda dancing with her dad at her Sweet 16 and perhaps we will use that.
Best wishes to you all.

We are having a memory candle with our grandparents names on it and a nice saying. We are also mentioning them in our programs. Its touchy because you certainly want them to be noticed / remembered but you dont want to make such a happy time a sad one either... GL!

We're going to put the names in the back of our church program - possibly looking into having a memorial candle.

I am mentioning it in our ceremony. I am also burning a candle through the reception and have pictures of our grandparents.
