How would you. . .?

How would you. . .?

How would you handle someone who keeps hinting that they want to come to your wedding and isn't really a friend?

I know 'Beth' through 'Brianna.' Beth is barely an acquaintence. Last night we were at Brianna's house for a BBQ and Beth was asking my all these wedding questions and kept making comments like 'we are going to have so much fun at your wedding,' and 'I can't wait for your bachlorette party,' etc. Ummm, she wouldn't even make it on my B-list for invites. I only talk to her when we are at brianna's house, struck me as odd, wondering your opinions.

Besides her, people i haven't talked to in years now keep calling me! One in particular I worked very hard at getting her out of my life, and now she's back!!

Is anyone else having problems like these??

not yet but probobly will happen to me and some of FH family that are not invited... I feel your pain....
What you can do is when she find out that you send your invitation just tell her that you where in a tight budget and you had a long family....

yeah, with a few people. it's rude and tacky and i never thought it would happen. I usually just try to change the subject and move on to something else. It happens at work sometimes....

Yes! I don't know why people feel the need to invite themselves. We are gently letting these people down by explinin that we have a limit as to how many can be at RH and our families are taking up most of those places. And we are trying to keep it small since wedings are so expensive. I think alot of people( especially those who are not married or have not attended many weddings) have absolutely no idea that we are actually paying per person and it's not cheap!

You may also want to ask 'Brianna' to say something to 'Beth' on your behalf. Like 'They really are trying to keep their guest list small.' Maybe she'll get the hint.

Good luck!

I would tell your friend to tell Beth that she isn't invited. She can break it to her nicely by saying it is a money or space issue....but I would ask your friend to handle her since she is your friends friend.

People are nuts!! Who invites themselves??

Wow some people are just crazy! Why would someone who you only see once in a while think they are automatically invited. In that case I guess you are inviting the cashier at the supermarket too. lol.

She's definately on my A-list, i see her more often

People can joke all they want about being invited, but weddings are expensive. Many people did this to me and most of the time I just shrugged it off. When they didn't get an invite, I guess they figured it out.

But in all seriousness, I do not think you should feel forced to invite someone. If they are not on your list and you do not have room for them, then you simply can not invite them. Trust me - they will get over it.

People are something else. I am having that problem and my wedding isn't until 2009. I had someone ask me when is my wedding and told me don't forget to add them on someone's invite that they know would be on the A-List. I don't even know the chick. I told her it's only for family and close friends; not people i see in passing.

Wow the nerve of some people amaze me! I would probably say something like 'we would love to have a big wedding but our RH can't accomodate it or we're keeping it very small'. Or if you don't want to deal with it at all I would change the subject when she brings it up/

yep.. all the time.. particularly at work.. lastspring when it got arond my job that i was getting married i had folks just coming up to me and asking me all kinds of questions about what they were going to wear to my wedding.. lol.

i just humor them.. i figure they'll get the hint when they don't get the invite..

I had someone i went to HS with tell me that they'll 'be waiting on the invitation in the mail' Ummmmmmm...keep waiting. Matter of fact...call me when you get it. People are SO rude.

Yes!!! It totally s u c k s that people become like that - but I just smile, nod, maybe giggle with them, and then ignore it... 'cuz they're not getting an invitation. Sorry!
If I see them after the wedding - I'm just tell them there wasn't room and we kept it CLOSE friends and family... maybe it's rude (most likely I'll be conceived as a b*tch) but they're not paying for it - and it's not just any old party... it's a celebration of a union, reserved for those you want to celebrate with!

Problem with that is she was married at our RH two years ago. I think that is one of the reasons why she wants to be there.

It's funny .... I love to attend weddings, but if I started hinting to everyone I knew that was getting married that I wanted to be on their guest list, I'd be broke! Who has the money to attend the wedding of someone they barely know????

On top of the fact that it's just plain RUDE to invite yourself. WOW. Hasn't happened to me yet ... I'm praying it doesn't!

Re: How would you. . .?

I had one friend who hasn't spoken to me in a year now over the silliest thing ever. I had her on the guest list for a while, but at the time we sent out the invites she hadn't spoken to me despite my attempts in 11 months so FH convinced me it was silly to invite her & would potentially create drama. I agreed.

When she found out the invites went out & realized she didn't get one, I saw a nasty post on myspace that I know was directed at me that mentioned invites being lost in the mail. Okay, you claim to hate me, tell me again why you thought I'd invite you???
