How would you feel?

How would you feel?

My friend who is getting married June of 09 just called me crying. She asked her ONLY sister to be her MOH and her sister said she doesn't want to... Is it me or is this a slap in the face to her. What would you say or do?

WOW that's pretty messed up, but what kind of relationship does she have with her sis and what was the sis' reason for declining? Maybe she feels it would be expensive for her to be the MOH and she can't afford it? who knows? that does suck though, she must be so upset

Wow, that is very hurtful. Did she give a reason as to why she wouldn't want to take part in such an honor? Your poor friend!

i would be devastated.... that's really sad. i guess it really depends though, my sister and i are really close, but not everyone is. there could be financial issues or who knows what.

maybe you'll be the MOH now?

Awh, I would be so hurt. But it does depend her their relationship, but still I can't see what would keep a sister from wanting to be a part of that special day, well unless it a money thing, in which case I'm sure you can figure something out. I hope they work something out, I feel so bad for your friend.

well i guess it depends on their relationship, i would be mad if we had a good relationship, but if we didnt really have a relationship or even got a long then i would kinda understand that she said no, i wouldnt expect her to say yes just because shes my sister, maybe they dont get along. i dont know, i dont have any sisters lol as you can tell im not good with the whole sister questions

I would consider it a slap in her face. It's an honor to be asked something like that regardless of their relationship. They are sisters after all.

I had the opposite situation. My sister started crying when she found out I was having my best friend as my MOH. I had no idea it would mean that much to her, so I had a change of heart and made her my MOH. I guess it was hard looking at my lil sister (she's turning 20 this year) as my peer...and for once I have to rely on her help. She is too cute.

I would be hurt but I would also ask why she wouldnt want to be a part of her wedding. She might have a good reason and it would be justified.

Better to have someone who wants to be in your wedding whole heartedly then not.

Re: How would you feel?

Well I can feel, in a way, what your friend is feeling. At first my sister didnt want to be my MOH. She isnt a dress person or a girly girl(into wedding stuff), will just be finishing nursing school by then and doesnt know the first thing to do as a MOH. So I understood. I gave her time to think about it and she said yes. I didnt pressure her, maybe my mom but, I told her what would be expected of her and that I am not going to be the type of bride to give her DUTIES to do . If I need help and she can do it with school and all then she'll be there for me. So with 'our' sisterly love and uderstanding it worked out for me in the long run.
P.S. money is an issue for her also with going to school for 2 yrs and no income but, I am not one to want my girls to be spending alot of money for what needs to be done.
Did her sister give her a reason why?

I don't even know what I would say. Did her sister give her a reason? I feel horrible for your friend. She should not take it personally. Perhaps her sister had a reason for turning down the honor.

i'm assuming theres more to the story, so i don't think i could really say how i'd feel in this situation

Re: How would you feel?

There has to be a reason why she doesn't want to do it, so I guess how I would feel depends on her reason for saying no. Even though your friends is hurt now it is better that she has a MOH that wants to be there the day of.
