how would you feel about this???

I was talking with FH and he told me FFIL wants to be different and 'stand out' at the wedding so he will be wearing a white tuxedo jacket Needless to say I was not happy but how do I handle this situation tactfully and not bridezillaish

That would be a definite no from me. You wear white to stand out, no one else should.

I too think the most diplomatic way to handle the situation is to tell him he can have a different flower if he really wants it... You can just nicely say that you would appreciate it if all the men had the same color jackets since they will be taking pictures together. It would look a little ridiculous in pictures if you had all of the men in say, black jackets and ONE guy in a white one! He has got to understand that!

I just wrote something but realized this is your FFIL and not like a FBIL. I honestly don't know how I would handle this. I am picturing this in my mind right now and it looks too funny! How could a FFIL want to wear a white jacket?!

Can you have FH say something to him that he doesn't want him to wear it, and would prefer him to wear something more similar to the groomsmen? This way you are not involved in this.

Re: how would you feel about this???

When my sister got married, my BIL's uncle was going through a mid-life crisis and wore a white suit (like Miami Vice). It was hysterical because when my mom saw him, she practically did a 360 because her head swiveled around so quickly. Plus, when people asked his son about how he was doing with the divorce, he said 'Well, he's wearing a white suit...'

I don't think you need to stress too much. Just go with the flow.

I would have Fh say something except FH sees nothing wrong with this

I would just tell FH that he should make his father aware that noone should be in white except for you and that you will be really upset if he really wears that. It doesn't matter if you sound like a bridezilla..

Honeslty....don't go bridezilla...this is your FH's father.

Maybe tell him that you really would like you and FH to be the only ones wearing hues of white that day. That you love him dearly and really respect his desire to stand out....suggest a flower, a colored bowtie....a pocket square....an ascot instead of a tie/bowtie. Give him lots of options to choose from.

In the end...if he does wear the white jacket, he's going to look very Love Boat and trust me...it will NOT take away from your shine on that day. People will chuckle at him. Not the type of attention he wants to attract.

I don't think a white tuxedo will take away from you or your day. I think all it will do is make him look ridiculous.

I know everyone I told has been laughing and that makes me feel worse because I dont want him to be a laughing stock at my wedding he is already estranged from most of the family and I know they will all be talking as it is

I think it is up to your FH to talk to his dad then. He should tell his dad that white tuxedos are no longer in fashion and as the father of the groom, he should look fashionable and smart. Hoepfully he will take his son's advice.

As long as it is not Miami Vice or John Travolta-ish, it could possibly look handsome.

If you truly have a problem, Honesty is the best policy. it is just a matter of trying to be as tactful as possible

Something like this doesnt look too bad :
