How would you feel if they decided to have the Olympics in NYC?

I, personally, think it's ridiculous. For a slew of reasons.....traffic, security, money, etc. I think it's just a BAD idea. I understand the want to have it here, but I don't think that it's wise.

I'd be so psyched. Have ou ever been to other olympic cities? Olympic city in barcelona is FABULOUS and it was once a hellhole!

I think it would be absolutely insane. The LIE would be worse than now..if that is even possible! I travel 6 exits to work and today it took me 1hr. If the Olympics come I will freak out and end up in the looney bin. I will also be hella pissed. I just don't think that the Olympics is suited for NYC they should do it in Albany or Woodstock, not here. JMO

The stadium would go to the Jets. Concerts would go to whoever wants to book the stadium. I think it kinda sucks that if I want to see a 'stadium sized' concert... i gotta travel all the way to East Rutherford NJ. Big pain in the arse!

The parks would remain for everyone to enjoy (kids to play on)

The housing (thats desperately needed) would probably go to the Housing Authority for low income housing like an above poster mentioned.

Its a win-win situation. If you don't care for the traffic... then you shouldn't be living or working in the city in the first place. It goes with the territory.

What I said was that we don't need the added traffic. We have enough as is. That is my opinion and I have had a very emotional 24 hours...so please do not pick on me. TIA NFT

I agree some of the Olymic villages thrive after the Olympics are over, but what about Atlanta???? That neigborhood is worse off now than before the olympics.

I am not for or against it... I just do not think I have all the facts yet to make a proper decision.

I also hate going to NJ for stadium concerts & footbal games, but one staduim does not justify building an entire Olympic Village....not as far as I can see.

I think it would be great for the city financially and it woudl be something great to raise our spirits.

Auugggh - we can't put the Jets in NYC - that's an even worse idea than having them in the Meadowlands - how would you tailgate in NYC. And I've done several tradeshows at the shuttlebus solution to getting over there is not the answer. Even a new subway line would not be all that wonderful.

Isn't smoking still big in Europe too? That's the silly thought I keep having - how are thousands of visitors going to like finding out they can't hardly smoke anywhere in NYC!!!

I would hate it because of so many reasons.

1.) I'm not a fan of the Olympics in general. ( used to love 'em.. I like the 'curling' from the last winter Olympics even though I had no clue as to what they were doing.. but not really anymore.. who knows maybe I'll like them again someday.. just not now.)

2.) I would hate what this would do to NYC.
The traffic.. congestion.. oh no, no.

I'm already po'ed about a four day Republican Convention here.. imagine two weeks of the Olympics in our backyard.. ugh.
