How would you feel if you were invited to a Monday reception?

How would you feel if you were invited to a Monday reception?

One of the venues I'm in love with is only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. My FH and I are considering the Monday of Memorial Day weekend (the last weekend in May) as a possible date, but are afraid people will be put off by the day, even though most will have off from work. What do you think?

I wouldn't mind going to a Mon. night wedding on Memorial Day. To me, since it is a holiday/day off, it would be like a Sun. night wedding b/c the next day is back to work. However, on Memorial Day weekend many people do go away for vacation, so that may be something to consider. You could easily devise many themes if you wanted based on the holiday/time of year.

I wouldn't mind especially on a holiday and if all the same people I know are going to. Just send out Save the Date cards and I think you will be good.

I wouldn't mind a Monday if it were the holiday weekend. Otherwise, honestly, I would kind of think it was strange and difficult to do. I agree with the Save the Dates for that kind of a situation.

I think if it is a holiday week then it should be fine! The people who love you shouldnt mind anyway.

If it was a Monday of a holiday weekend like Meorial day I wouldn't even think twice. If it were a regular monday I would be annoyed because it was an inconveniece but if it was a close friend I would get over it quickly.

As long as it was on a Monday when I have off of work it would be fine. I agree that you should definitley send out save the dates because alot of people go away.

Would it be an afternoon reception?? I don't know about a night reception - wouldn't people have to go to work the next day??? Personally - I don't really like Sunday night receptions either, JMO!!

I would definitely send out STD's. You don't want people planning their family vacations for that weekend.

I wouldn't mind it at all....I have been to a wedding on Labor day and the 4th of July as well : ). Any day for a wedding is good and those that love you will come no matter what!!

I wouldn't mind it at all. Just make sure you tell those people who you really want there in advance so they know not to make other plans!

My friend got married on Memorial Day. It was totally fine. I would say an early morning ceremony & afternoon reception are best. That way people can still do something @ night if they want and plus everyone has to work the next day. Do what's right for you & the people who mattter most will do whatever it takes to be there! Good Luck!

I wouldn't mind at all either. I agree though, that you need to let people know so they can arrange their plans. Good Luck

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. People have weddings all the time on Labor day, 4th of July, if you have guests traveling they might think it was nice to make a mini weekend vacation out of your wedding

Do it - definately do it

We booked the Sunday night, and initially I was against it but I've really gotten used to it

Personally, I am just not crazy about Sunday night weddings becuase I have to be at work early Monday morning and I can never fully enjoy myself knowing that.

But I agree that memorial day weddings are a lot like Sunday night weddings so if you are okay with that, monday should be fine.

BUT MAKE SURE YOUR INVITES indicate MONDAY very clearly because I think many people will assume you have a saturday or sunday and it will cause some confusion.

Thanks everyone! We would definately have a late AM mass and then an early afternoon reception. I really like this place and if I can book it for the Monday of Memorial Day weekend I will be so happy to continue my planning. And thank you for the Save the Date tip and clearnly indicating Monday, that is a good idea.

Memorial Monday should be fine, especially if it's afternoon vs. morning like you said you're doing.
I think Save the Dates are the best way to go for Holiday weddings, even if it's on Sat or Sun b/c of people and vacations.

I think you'll be fine.
Congrats on finding a place you love !!!!

I am getting married the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. I feel that those who want to be there will be there and that is all that matters. I think it would be fine I would not have any worries.

I do suugest you send out Save the dates, just so everyone knows well in advance of your plans. I have already done that.
