I would have your FH call his friend and ask. Sorry but that is just plain rude. I know a lot of girls believe that they are not obligated to invite someone with a guest - fine if a casual relationship- but downright rude if its a serious relationship- especially being engaged!!

I have to agree. I know for our e-party one of the invites had the guest left off and it was a situation like your in. I called them and explained the mix up and they didn't seem to mind. I would tell your FH to outright ask or call one of them to 'chit chat' and bring it up in a subtle way.

ETA: when you're engaged, that doesn't count as 'and guest' in my opinion. It's either you invite the couple or you don't invite them at all.

I understand how you feel but apparently plenty of brides here are doing the same thing. Inviting non married people alone because they don't have the budget to have people/friends bringing a guest.

ETA: I even read posts about how rude it is to impose yourself or RSVP with '2' when no guest was invited.

Oh I understand. But if you read a lot of posts here. Many brides would be 'tacky and rude' since this is what they are doing and complain about such and such RSVPing with a guest when they were invited alone.

I only invited my guests 'with guest'. When I was invited, I liked having the option to bring someone with me if I wanted to do so.

She right, you need to find out the other side before you get bent out of shape over it (I know, easier said than done!).....Try and get on FH's case about talking to his friend.

honestly, I don't see the big deal. I personally have no desire to go to some random wedding for people who I'm obviously not close to, so I really wouldn't care if I were invited.

Sure, we're a couple, and a unit, in a lot of ways. But we are also still independent human beings who exist outside of each other and our relationship. I'm perfectly happy to let the outside world see me as an individual human being, rather than one half of a couple.

There's also a decent chance that it's just a mistake and you're getting worked up over nothing. It's pretty annoying that your FH refuses to call them up and straighten it out, but when he does I wouldn't be surprised if that's what you found.

I think sometimes we get so caught up in 'rude' and 'etiquette' and whatever else that we forget about simple things like 'budget' and '5 billion things to remember at once, so something tiny gets messed up.'

Well, he FINALLY got in touch with the groom to be and it was a complete mistake. The groom to be was actually freaking out about it wondering who else that might have happened to. He thanked my FH for having the 'balls' to call and ask and was worrying that if it happened to someone else, they might not call and just go a long with it. He also apologized

So... problem solved
