How Would You Handle This? (Mean Boss Help?)

How Would You Handle This? (Mean Boss Help?)

Ok.. so i work in a boutique and last night it was busy.... i got a big shipment late at night.
I put it in the back to do today b/c why would i ignore customers?

SO.... this morning my boss calls me to yell at me! She goes off how its not fair to the girl that opened to have to come in to all those boxes.

Um... the other day i did a shipment of like 15 boxes by myself. I am going in today at 4pm and planned on taking care of what I need to do.

I am VERY bothered that my boss calls me when i'm NOT working. She cant wait a few hours til i get to work THEN yell at me?!?!?!

Besdies, i have good judgement. I dont go there and act all lazy.
Also, i was working with another girl last night.. is SHE getting in trouble as well?

My boss is the most abbrassive person i have ever met in my life. I dont know how much more I cantake of it. She walks all over everyone who works there. Everyone says to one another 'dont take it personally'. and i havent until now, i just dont know how much more i can take before i crack!

Any suggesions??????

Should i wait until/if she brings it up again and then just tell her in a professional manner that i would appreciateit if she would wait until i am at work to yell at me and that i se good judgement and im not there just to sit around.

????????????????????????????????

she is just the worst person!
she had to fire this one girl yesterday morning.... and she felt bad b/c of it and i understood it was a hard thign for her to do but there was no need for her to turn and say to me 'just because i fired HER doesnt mean YOURE perfect! NONE of you are' umm... did i claim to be perfect?!
shes just so mean. i dont want to get into a big 'thing' with her.
maybe ill just wait and see what happens.

shes so weird b/c shes mean and all to my face... but then everyone says 'Rose always says how youre her best employee... she loves you . blah blah' why cant she ACT like it>?!

that place would fall apart if i left!
she needs to show better consideration for her staff. theres only like 4 of us!

is there a way to report her to her supervisor with out any repricustion (sp) to you? Or at least give them a heads up to what is going on. I would also, just tell her how you feel straight out

I would speak to her calmly and tell her what you think. I don't think you are wrong. For her to call you during your off hours is completely unacceptable- you have never mentioned being an 'on-call' employee, and that certainly wasn't enough of an emergency to warrant invading your personal time.

I had a boss like that too and boy I couldnt wait to quit. She would yell at me because I didnt do things the , 'right' way, yet she never bothered to tell me there was a right way or a wrong way of doing my job. When I pointed this out to her she would tell me yes I did tell you that...blah blah blah. Five minutes later she would than say oh well maybe I never did tell you that.

Some people dont understand how hectic work can be while your doing it, because they arent the ones doing it. Some people also think they are better than everyone else and think they have the right to walk all over whoever they want.

Im sure it would be a rude awakening for her if all four of you left.

I absolutely do NOT think you did anything wrong

Your boss just sounds like one of those people who is always going to find SOMETHING to pick on.... where I would draw the line is taking calls from her at home. As Don said, I'd totally ignore them

I would pretty much leave the subject alone, however - I dont think it'll accomplish much to confront her, unfortunately. The ONLY thinkg I might talk to her about is the phone call at home

Try not to let it upset you!! She truly just sounds like a miserable , unhappy person

Good Luck!

First of all, it's not appropriate for her to call you at home for ANYTHING...(unless the business is closed for some reason and you need to be notified that you shouldn't report to work) OR if she plans on paying you for the time spent on the phone with her- and if you're over 40 hours for the workweek, she needs to add in overtime)

Second of all, she needs to be careful- it sounds like she's teetering on creating a hostile work environment for you. That's a form of harassment...

ah yes...the best 3 words in court.....Hostile Work Environment.......it is definitely a valid point that sueven brings up though. She really should not be calling you at home on your time off to talk to you about a non-emergency.

thanks girls!
luckily she was not at work and didnt call in.

i vented to my coworkers about it. she does it too much. she calls this woman at home all the time to yell at her. a few times she has even come in (NOT getting paid!!) to fix her 'mistakes'

me and the girl today were just like 'we cant take this much longer!!!'

the other two women randomly stopped in, so i vented to them too. one of tehm said 'yeah, we need to talk to her!'

its getting really bad. we all walk on eggshells around her. its sad.

I agree with this comment....its boxes....not life or death....unless she is going to pay you for your time on the phone there is no reason it couldn't have waited....and being the boss she should have ask if there was a reason you left the boxes...before accusing you of just leaving them for someone else. Some bosses truely need to learn how to interact with their staff
