We are having our reception there. We are going for a tasting next monht. AllI have heard are great things from those who have been there. Even my vendors rave about the food!

Hi, Sand Castle bride here! Got married a year ago this past Sunday ( ) and I have to say that even though I hardly ate anything , all of our guest raved about it!!!!! Whatever I did eat, was very good!!!!

What room are you in?

My best friend (and one of my BM) had her reception there in Feb. I thought the food was very good too.

Paula we have the ball room on the first floor too. We are havin the cocktail up stairs in the skylight room.
Who did you speak to there? I have been dealing with Stravula. SHe is really working whth us

actually i made a mistake, the receiption is in the skylight room and my cocktail hour is downstairs... i've been dealing with Harry... so far, so good!

Thanks Marcela and Paula!!!! My cocktail hour was downstairs in the VIP room and my reception was upstairs in the Skylight room (must say it looks amazing at night). I also dealt with Stravoula -- and she was the nicest person to deal with -- but we met with Harry once and then with George the last time. Every one of them were very helpful and very nice to deal with!! And on the day of the wedding, the bridal attendants and maitre d' were also phenomenal!!!! Every time I turned around, my glass was filled (not that I ever drank a full glass anyway I couldn't get drunk if I wanted to that night!!! )

I highly recommend taking pictures outside on their grounds because I have to tell you that since the sun was going down, the colors of the sky were amazing with the rest of the background. My portrait (I should say my 'billboard' -- its 30x30 -- my beloved DH insisted on it after he said the 20x24 I wanted was 'too big' -- don't ask) looks like something from Greece or Italy with the columns in the back. Your photographer can get some great shots there and even inside. I am so happy with all of my proofs (still waiting for my album )!!!

As for house vendors: I saw about 3 of their photographers, but ended up with Cassarino, who used to be one of their vendors. I used their house florist, Jay W. Becker (who did all those beautiful silk arrangements they have all over the place), Royalty Limo and Big Hits. I have no complaints whatsoever with any of them or with the place. I really enjoyed myself at my wedding and still can't believe it's come and gone a year already!!!

Paula, my reception is in the skylight room and my cocktail hour is downstairs as well!!! Everything is so magical there and I can't wait for my big day (4/27/03). Do you have any reservations about the low ceilings in the skylight room? It is driving me nuts. My fiancee says it is beautiful regardless but wanted to know your thoughts since I was thinking of having the room change but of course it will cost me much more $$$$.

Karen, as you can see from my above post, I also had the Skylight room and the ceilings weren't too low at all! As a matter of fact, it gave it a more cozy feeling!!! Trust me, you'll love the whole effect!

Thanks Bearsbabe!!!!! I can't tell you how much it means to me to hear this from someone who has gone through the experience already. I am now 100% certain it is the perfect place for my event!! Did you also have the sparklers? I am looking for a dramatic entrance and Stravoula suggested them.

Karen, so it took me so long to answer your question, but I don't have a computer at home!! Yes, we did the sparklers and LOVED them, but we only did the ones from over the dance floor -- I didn't want to do the ones from the centerpieces because I thought it would scare everyone! LOL :) The effect was really cool and it looks really good on the video!!!!

HI.

I went to a wedding there this weekend. It was beautiful. The food is very good, the only thing I did not care for was the Chicken Francaise, but that is only my opinion. It is a fabulous place for a wedding.

nrvbrd, was the chciken francaise an entree? Maybe I can request they substitute it with something else. Also, what was some of the things that they did that impressed you. For instance the favors, the room, the type of decorations, flowers etc.

I think we did tell our videographer and our photographer had shot there before and asked us, so yes, they both knew. See what happens a year later, you forget about all these little details! Whatever the case, the video came out just fine w/that effect, so even if they didn't know about it, you can see it!

What type of centerpieces are you thinking of? I loved the ones they have and ended up going with the high ones w/2 dozen roses and the votives.

I didn't put my favors on the table, so they set up a really nice favor table to the left of the dais (on the even-numbered side) and they did a nice job of arranging them.

We had the viennese hour and everyone raved about it -- unfortunately me and my DH, didn't get to eat any of it until the next day (tell them you want to take home ALL leftovers).

Like I said before, the photo ops there were great and you should take advantage of all of them! Feel free to email me w/any questions you have. You'll have a wonderful wedding! They really do a nice job and everyone is very helpful!

Edited to say I think we picked the chicken marsala instead of the chicken francese. If I remember correctly, there was several to choose from. Plus, don't be afraid to ask them to make substitutions!!! You have nothing to lose by asking!
