Get it! I usually write a whole long speech on here about it, but I won't do it again. FM me if you want the details. I have such a story that will make you go get it tomorrow.

Re: HPV Vaccine
I would look into your medical history first...If you've ever had an STD, and not the magnet...LOL....some STD cause this virus, then you probably have the HPV already. The vaccine may not be necessary. They're 3 shots!!!!!!! Hell no! When I had the Hep B shots that was bad!!!!

haha...well...I've never had an STD, but the vaccine is also recommended for women who already have HPV bc there are diff types...so even if u have one, it's supposed to help prevent the others...I'm just more worried since its a new vaccine...u know?

Re: HPV Vaccine
Funny thing I've known about HPV for years and DRs never considered it important until recently, they have linked this virus to cervical cancer....I forget her name but she was on the Today show a few weeks ago....She was misdiagnosed years ago...she had her yearly pap, everything was normal. One of those times, she does the pap, it comes back negative. Well turned out she had ovarian cancer, which was caused by HPV virus, tests showed she had that in her body. The cancer was so bad, that she had a hysterectomy done...The actress is now 27 and can't EVER reproduce....Stories like these depress me and always inspire me to read and learn more about our bodies. I ALWAYS have a pap done in 6 months, regardless of DRs recommendations! But I didn't think if you had the virus you could have the shot....I don't think I want it though!!! I hate shots!

Re: HPV Vaccine
Yeah, you should still get the shot even if you know you have HPV already because like was said above, theyre are different strands of the virus and it will at least protect you against all the others.
GO GET THE SHOT LADIES!!
*also....my gyno told me that 75% of women will get this virus at some point in their life, its that prevelant! Most of these women will never see symptoms though because there are many types that enter the body and just die out.*
You can never be too careful!

HPV can cause cervical cancer. It has not been linked to OVARIAN cancer.
I have no idea if I will get the vaccine since it's not covered by most insurances yet. I don't mind the 3 shot series. Hep B/C vaccine wasn't bad when I was in HS. If my insurance covered it, I would get it.

Re: HPV Vaccine
GET IT!!!!!!!!!! I'm over 27, had to pay for it out of pocket, and wouldn't miss it. Even if you already have the HPV virus.....there are over 20 strains, and it will prevent you from developing the really dangerous ones.

Re: HPV Vaccine
Got no intention of using any new drugs. I used the patch for BC and it was recalled for causing strokes and blood clots, I also used Depro it was recalled for causing infertility. Dont get me wrong any drug has it's side effects. Just dont feel like being a guinea pig.

I agree, many drugs that women took in the past affected their children either at birth or later on in life. Not saying this is def the case there, but I'd like to see the long term effects of it first.

Re: HPV Vaccine
My Doctor told me to get it...
I did the usual naive 'but I'm married' She just looked at me and went
And even though I KNOW that Vinny is here to stay I bit my tongue for saying such a naive statement without thought!! It made me look like such a twit... But, anyway, I said 'alright fine I'll get it'... She just told me that she thinks everyone should get it and since I'm within the age limit that I should.
So, the next time I go for a check up (in a few weeks actually) I will be getting it.
I guess it can't harm you... it's like getting a vaccine for Polio or something. I'll let you know if anything bad happens or I grow a bionic arm!

Re: HPV Vaccine
My GYN said that it would be of no use for me since I'm 25 years old and only have had 1 sexual partner and my FH has never been with anyone else. THe shot also is most productive when received at an early age!!! It's your personal choise though and should be discussed with your health care provider!!
