I would love to know what you do in HR and how big your company and department are. I am currently in a dept of 3 supporting 300 very needy people!

Hi!
I'm the Manager of Employee Loyalty & Organizational Development.
I have one Rep and one Intern and we support 30,000 people in the US and International with retention efforts and change management. Also very needy!!
I used to love my job, but lately office politics have started to kill my enthusiasm. I'm thinking of going back to school again (I have a masters in I/O Psych) and becoming a teacher.

LOL - me too (becoming a teacher).
I am an HR Coordinator working with an HR Manager and a US Director of HR.
When I came on board, the Exec Asst, the prior HR Coord and a Generalist all resigned within 1 week of each other. And they hired me. And only me. It was supposed to be temporary - and that was 1 year ago! I am doing everything from maintaining my boss's calendar to expense reports to recruiting to special projects like CPR training to payroll paperwork. It's insane!

It's like you get punished in HR for doing your job too well.

I am in a department of 4 supporting 300 in the US, 25 in London, 5 in Australia and 1 in Japan. I do benefits, including 401k pension and stock option plans, for all offices and manage the payroll dept (2 people) that processes payroll for all offices. HR is a rough gig - I've been doing it for 10 years (can't believe THAT!) but it pays the bills and I like my co-workers! The people we support are a different story!

LOL what is it with us all being overworked? LOL is it because HR people tend to by nature be nice people who want to help and bend over backwards for people!!
