HUBBY'S SURPRISE B-DAY GET AWAY..SUGGESTIONS NEEDED!!!
Original post by shamma
I want to plan something nice for my hubby's b-day get away weekend, I was looking for ideas. Alina told me about the Hamptons, she just returned and my GF and her hubby went to Cape May last July and enjoyed it. It will only be for 2 days. Must drive must be fun, must be nice restaurants, must be romantic. I am taking every and all suggestions.

mohonk is beautiful...but there is a strict dress code for dinner...just to let you know...DH can't do that every night lol...
we went to the Montauk Manor right after our wedding and it was SO great...its a huge tudor mansion on top of a hill over looking the ocean and bays...there are fabulous restaurants all over the place...and you could get lost on the property...between the sunrises and sunsets...
they also have tennis courts and other courts...while the hamptons are more on the loud side...montauk is a quiet little get away...
edited to fix the link...sorry

I have not been there in a while (so specifics would be difficult), but what about Cape Cod, Marha's Vineyard and Nantucket. You can stay in Cape Cod an do a day trip to either island. I loved them all, and very romantic!

Shamma I was just looking at the new New England Travel Guide. I get one every year and this just came out. There is a place in southern Vermont that looks very interesting. It is called The Reluctant Panther. It is for couples only and advertisies as intimate and romantic. I checked out their website and the rooms are beautiful. It is a traditional Bed and Breakfast, but they also have a restaurant where they serve dinner. There seems to be a lot to do in the area. The website is www.reluctantpanther.com.

Hahahah Here I am, Fear not! LOL. I just replied a message to your forum mail. I'm going to copy and paste that below for anyone else looking for some Boston insights. If you stay at the Mary Prentiss Inn I will have to laugh -- that is literally around the corner from me. hehehe And I didn't even think to suggest it... any how heres what I wrote in Forum Mail:
Whats the budget like?
Some of the best places (and pricy!) to stay in Boston are:
Boston Harbor Hotel -- great views (http://www.bhh.com/) Four Seasons -- where I got engaged, so I'm biased... (www.fourseasons.com/boston) Ritz-Carlton (very well located for shopping!) The Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston (great place for walking around)
Things to do:
If you are a kid at heart, I highly recommend:
Duck tours (a very cheesy tourist tour around the city in a vehicle that rides right into the river - lots of fun and a good way to see the city.) (http://www.bostonducktours.com/)
The Musuem of Science (If you go, make sure to see a movie at the Mugar Omni Theater -- it's a five-story-tall domed screen --- imagine seeing a movie projected on a planetarium dome. Its so awesome!!!)
For shopping (not that you don't have enough of that in NY, but is there ever really enough?), the best places to go are:
Fanueil Hall (http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/) Newbury Street (for designers/ultra ritzy stores)
Let me know if you have any questions about these or anything else. Boston is such a great place to visit -- a very walkable city.

Shamma, we once spent a few days on Block Island. There's a beautiful beach, great restaurants, and cute little shops. It's more of a 'relaxing' trip than a 'doing' trip.

What about the Pocono's.
FI's mom lives in the Pocono's and I love visiting her. Their are so many great shops near her, the people are so friendly and at night it is so romantic and peaceful.

My aunt went to this B& B in Cape May NJ- Akwaba Inn. It is run by Monique Greewood, former editor of Essence magazine. This is her second year in a row going.
From what I hear it is beautiful!!!!

Nvrbd that is on my list. My friend went with her hubby last memorial day, but I wanted to know what else is out there. I called them and asked for their availability.
