HUGE Glen Cove Mansion complaint...

I've been looking into blocking rooms for the wedding, and we decided on the Glen Cove Mansion. My family had been using that hotel for years now, even when it was the Harrison House, since it's so close to my town.

Anyway, after trying to get someone on the phone for WEEKS now, my mom finally went there in person to ask some questions, she even made an appointment.

My mom called me last night to tell me what they told her, and I could tell my mom was upset since she was really set on the place...

they told her:

'we wont let you books rooms until a month before, just in case a better party comes along we want to have availability for them'

ok, first of all, my wedding is on a thursday, what other big events do you have going on thursday nights?

ANDDD, how much bigger can you get besides a wedding? we were planning on booking two suites, 10-20 rooms for OOTers, and a catered lunch the next day.

I just feel really insulted... why wasn't my party good enough?

back to the drawing board....

That's terrible. You should go back there and ask to speak to a manager. Maybe it was just the person your mom talked to gave you wrong information. I can't imagine that they would not want to have your business. They are not getting to get a 'BIGGER PARTY' than that. If you really like it def go back and speak to a Manager/Supervisor. Good luck.

that was the manager!!!!

i tried getting info from someone over the phone for about 2 weeks, and they kept telling to to leave a voice message.

finally my mom made an appointment to see the manager since nobody was getting back to me...

That is horrible and extremely unprofessional of them to tell you that. Take that as a sign and walk away. If they are waiting for a 'bigger party' that is not the type of place you want to have your wedding. Have you researched other places? Better to be in a place that they will treat you like royalty even if it is not the place that you have in mind.

They have some nerve. They don't deserve you or your guests. I'm crossing them off my list as well.

Sounds strange to me. I booked a block of 20 rooms with them for my wedding about 2 months ago. Just called up and they sent me the contract. They just said that they hold the rooms until 1 month before.

That's terrible then. If that's how their 'service' is now then imagine what it would be like for your wedding. You def don't wan to get married there. There are a ton of other places where they would love to have your business and will treat you the right way. Don't even stress about them.

Sorry to hear that. I heard that next June that the US open is here & most hotels are booked already for around 6/15-21 or close to those dates anyway. Maybe they think more people will come earlier. ?????????????

We did our block there. At first, nobody was calling us back either and giving us strange info. But, we went there in person and finally got a contract and they were nice and all. So, maybe it was the person you spoke to.
