Huntington Townhouse

Does anyone have an opinion good/bad about this place? We already booked them because it was real nice and the price was right. I also know they are a well known name down here. Any input would help, thanks. Stacy

Even though we are getting married in May, due to time constraints (and wedding guests staying at our house), we are waiting until July to go to Saratoga. Beautiful old victorians that are B&B's, great town to walk around, laid back, and the horses start in July and run through August. We both enjoy the atmosphere there. I would definitely recommend it to anyone even if it is "not in season" (prices are MUCH cheaper then, too). If anyone is interested, I'll see if I can find the web address for the Chamber of Commerce. (and there is a lot of history in the area, along with the spas, and the performing arts center)

Hope this helps, and good luck with whatever you decide.

I almost booked with them, but then ended up having so many problems that I backed out. If you want further details, I'll tell them to you, but I'm hesitant because you have already booked them--don't want to knock you down.

Good Luck!

Great news! Thanks. It really is a pretty place. Is the Garden Room the room thats comes with a cocktail hour in a sort of terrace/balcony inside/outside sort of room? LOL (some description)! I know they have designated cocktail rooms for whichever room you choose for the reception. Can you believe I never asked the name? or,(quite possibly) it went in one ear and out the other! I can't read it on the copy of our contract. Anyway- just wondering if you knew! (do I ramble or what?) Hugs Stacy

Good Luck!

Dear Jennifer, No- I appreciate your honesty and consideration for my feelings. Don't worry about it. If you had problems with them- I would love to know about them. This way I can possibly avoid such problems. Ya know what I mean? If you think it will make me nervous about them or whatever- don't worry. Knowing what problems I could possibly expect from them will give me the upper hand. Everyone has different experiences with different places- some great some horrible. I know in the end it will be beautiful- I just want to road there to be as smoothe as possible! Thanks a lot! Hugs stacy (always hugs for my fellow brides!) PS- where did you book your wedding after all?

Good Luck!

June

Huntington Townhouse

We ended up booking at Chateau Le Mer for Aug. 2001.

Keep in mind that this all happened August of 1999, when I was looking for a hall. There were a lot of rumors that Huntington Townhouse was going bankrupt. They neither confirmed nor denied this rumor (more that one person had heard it). The people who showed us the rooms claimed that it was a family owned business, and it turned out that the bank owned it. Seemed kinda shady, but we were still willing to go with it. Then they started talking about a Ritz Carlton Hotel that they were going to build, and how they couldn't possibly be going bankrupt if they were building a hotel, right? Wrong...two totally separate businesses that have nothing to do with each other.

The prices seem great - you start with $29 and work your way up depending on what you want. If you want valet parking its $5 more, if you want a pasta station, or a venetian table, it's more money. By the time we were done I felt like I had been compromising what we were getting with what I wanted.

ok- thanks. I never asked about valet parking. Thanks for reminding me. So far so good with answering my questions and phone calls. I was treated nicely when being shown the rooms. My experience so far has been pretty good- nothing to rave about- but no complaints. God- I hope they are not going bankrupt! How the hell do you ask them about something like that? Thanks again Jennifer. Hugs Stacy PS- I hope you have a wonderful wedding at Chateau Le Mar!!

another good one is www.weddingchannel.com

i had bookmarked it awhile ago, but never looked at it (i've also been using theknot.com), but last night i checked it out and they had a lot of really informative articles, plus a whole section for gowns and tuxes!!! and a feature where you can email the pictures to friends and family. found a cool tux and emailed it to my fiance. good luck everyone and happy planning!!!

Hi!

I also booked the Huntington Townhouse and so far everything has gone well. I call them with questions and they have been very helpful. My fiance's sister was married there and his family loved the place. I also have heard some bad experiences with the place but I haven't experienced any yet and I'm getting married this October. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this smooth road remains the same but I'll let you know if I hit some bumps!!

LOL!! Monica
