Huntington Townhouse Thread

Original post by nsgraham

Because there isn't one and we should get one too!

I'm having my ceremony in the gazebo and my cocktail hour/reception in Townhouse/Governers (I'm not sure which is which). I think I'm gonna take a picture of me making out with the gold cherubs! Anyone?

For instance, where are you taking your pictures? On the Grounds or in a park closeby?

Bump!

I just had my finals meeting! My wedding is Glatt Kosher, so some things may be different than other weddings there.

The best thing about it is the amount of food I'm getting. 6 passed hor dourves (sp?), 9 or 10 chafing dishes, 2 pasta and 3 carving stations. And the full cold display - like 9 other things. They're also gonna try and make kosher jerk chicken! And plantains!

Salad, appitizer, 4 entrees, dessert and wedding cake. Because it's kosher all of this is set.

The only issue I had was the cake. Maybe it's because it's kosher, but I can only have a choice of 3 cakes! One smooth with little roses (any colors I want, wow ), one basketweave icing, and one traditional lacy icing! I can also have them with the little pillars or stacked. I don't even know if I can have a color. Will fax in a pic of the cake i had in mind and Danae said she'll try to see if it can be done without raising my price.

But I'm really getting good value. I'm very excited! It's really close now!

NSGRAHAM - when were you allowed to pick out your menu?...sounds like 1-2 months before your wedding....Ellen Rose is freaking me out....I'd like to know my menu I'm printing personalized menus for my guests....my wedding is in Aug but I feel l need to know now! I'M STRESSED!

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

my menu was set, but it's kosher, so I don't know about normal people. And I picked out my cocktail hour things. About 3 months, actually.

Calm down charlotte, you don't have to freak out now! Don't make those menus yet - things might change.

You can ask them to send you a menu though. And their website seems to have some choices.

I am also having my cocktail in the penthouse, and my reception in the crystal room. How is the governers room it was occupied when I went. What is different about it. I am having my wedding at a Church, but I am still thinking of using the Chapel.

Danielle and I are using the indoors chapel. The one that has the metal cage in the front...Something like a mini Gazeebo.

We are having our cocktail party in the room with the dance floor in the middle, and the sky lights above.

Our reception is going to be in the grand Ballroom.

The Governor's room has a giant skylight and a little waterfall in it. The skylight is really nice - right over the dance floor.

Not sure if thats the same room...I dont remember seeing a waterfall in there, unless it is something that is new.

The Grand Ballroom has dividers that pull out of the walls to create smaller rooms. The waterfall is at the end of the room in the section they call the Governor's Suite. It is the end closest to the room where the CH would be, and nearest the chapel with the 'gazebo'. All three of these rooms are where we will be getting married in LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!! (Ok, sorry, had to get that out of my system) Hope that information helps you out a little.

Smolokoff- I have the Governors ballroom now also our guarantee is 120..doesn't that room have 2 waterfalls??

For all using the Governors ballroom, are you using the entire room or is the HTH trying to make you use those awful curtains to make the room smaller....this is an issue for us....we're paying for that room but the HTH decides where the tables are arranged and whether or not the curtain instead of a wall will be used....I'm starting to wish I would not have booked the HTH, they are making too many changes in the final months of my wedding!

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

What do you mean? I was given a diagram with where the tables would be - they're layed out pretty sensibly, some on the side and the rest on the edge, around the dance floor. Hoe else could you lay them out? and I only saw a wall in that room. How ugly are these curtains?

charlotte227 Posted:

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

We were given a diagram also but it would be finalized at a later date....however the exact location of the tables would be determined by the HTH...our guest list is fluctuating between 125-150 so about 15 tables max....for instance I might not want 6 tables each crammed alongside the dance floor and only the 3 remaining tables in the back (I HATE AFFAIRS WHERE GUESTS ARE SHIMMYING THRU CHAIRS AND ALL YOU KEEP HEARING IS EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME BECAUSE THE SPACE IS TOO TIGHT)...at the back of the room before the wall there are 2 slots each with an ugly a** worn out burgundy ceiling to floor curtain that can be pulled across....the Governors room holds about 250-300 max...... if you do not use all of that space they draw those awful curtains across making the ballroom smaller and uglier...FH had a fit and said he would deal with it...it's making me very angry....also unless you go to 150 guests or better you only get 1 bar set up...can you imagine the line of people waiting for a drink...that is so tacky really...I'm fed up with the planning and the HTH I have to take a mini-break from it all

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

I was under the impression that we had the whole room. We are garanteed for 140 to 150 guests.

I still have no idea where the waterfall is? Was it added recently?

Yes, 2 waterfalls. One behind where we will be sitting and one on the side. But as for the whole room? I don't think any of us is having a wedding that big. I was there for New Years' and the whole room was open. There was something like 1200 people and there was room for a few more tables. So, I don't think you even WANT all that wasted space. At least I don't. JMO.

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

Hmmm....I guess we will have to find out abut that then.

Re: Huntington Townhouse Thread

SMOLOKOFF

Take another look at the Governors ballroom, I understand the entire floor opens all the way up & holds 1200 people which none of us are having a wedding that large.

However, if you were to go thru the door marked Governors and enter the next door on your right just opposite of a small bridal suite (on your left).....when you enter that door and look you will see the bar and 2nd waterfall opposite your entrance and the 1st waterfall to your left which is where the bridal dais is set up.

However to the right of the room in the back is where the slots are for the curtains and the wall. Look up at the ceiling keep looking at the grooves in the ceiling and down the wall and you will see that they are slotted with openings, inside is the burgundy curtain.

There are 2 curtain slots at the very back of the room and beyond the slots is the wall they extend back and forth.

I'm a stickler for detail.

So the question remains, did the HTH tell you if you do not fill up that space with people they will draw the curtain depending on your guest list....what number of guests do you need to not have the curtains drawn and only the wall? This is my dilemma!!!
