Hurrican Sandy/LONG BEACH Weddings - Help?
Hi everyone! I'm new here and wanted to see if any other brides are getting married in Long Beach? My wedding isn't until May, but I know this town was really hit hard and am so sorry to everyone who lives there :( If you're also getting married in Long Beach (my venue is the Allegria Hotel) please let me know! I'd love to stay in touch and hear updates about how the rebuilding is going since I don't live nearby.

I am not sure about the Allegria, but the city itself is kind of in shambles right now. I will ask my friends from home when I talk to them if they know any news/status on the Allegria. I think a friend of a friend may work there so maybe shell have an idea.

I am also getting married at Bridgeview in Island Park at the end of March. My hotel block is the Allegria and that is also where I plan on getting ready/doing boardwalk pictures. I have not tried to get in touch with them yet because I know they have their hands full. I was planning on calling in early December to get an idea of where they thought they would be at in March. I don't live in the area either but will be up in NY visiting our parents for Thanksgiving so time permitting we are hoping to get to the Long Beach/Island Park area to assess. I will definitely let you know what we find! PS - Love the Allegria. We looked their for our wedding but the ballroom wasn't large enough for our size party. Such a beautiful space though!!

Thanks Mel! I love it, too. I'm lucky to have a small wedding, prob no more than 100-150 so it was perfect for me. Let me know how it goes over the holidays.

I live in Long Beach and should be moving back home later this week. The town was hit very hard but it does look a lot better than it did right after the hurricane! I can't wait to go home..been living out of a hotel for the past 16 days.

Hey girls, I too live in LB and unfortunately the town is still pulling itself together. Allegria is doing fine actually, but Brideview was badly hit. They had to find other locatins for brides, even those is late December. I am sure that they will be open by your weddings though!

They called me te other day saying that they were taking the time to get all renovations done. They are set to start weddings again as of December 14th. The docks are gone but there is no severe structure damage, just a lot of water.

I live in Long Beach also. Finally moving back home today! I don't think you have anything to worry about. If anything the lobby/first floor of the Allegria was damaged. As for people wanting boardwalk pictures, there wasn't too much damage in the western most end. I'm on the east end and there was def a lot more damage there. My building took about a month to get power and heat back again. Right now it's just the cosmetic stuff needing to be replaced (they have to gut everything that got wet). LB is def bouncing back faster than I thought.

I was suppose to get married at Serata and had to reschedule (11/11/12) but Long Beach is definitely bouncing back! Peace and Love to those in Long Beach that are struggling. May you find strength in the support of those around you and those who are sending positive thoughts from far away

That's so nice. I'm sorry to hear you had to reschedule. I never even got to try Serata.

I'm also getting married at the Allegria over Labor Day weekend...I visited a couple weeks ago when we were down there doing some stuff with other vendors (I'm from CT, so I try to do multiple things when I travel down), and the boardwalk was completely gone. We were able to actually take a few pieces of the old boardwalk home (guestbook idea?). From what I've heard through word of mouth and the news, the boardwalk should be complete fairly quick and they have an army of people working to rebuild it. Lets keep our fingers crossed, the pictures of brides on the boardwalk are awesome!Another surprise I had when visiting the Allegria was that their chef, Todd Jacobs, is no longer with the venue and the wedding menu is going to be completely different. I have yet to see it or get any other info, and I'm waiting back on the girls there to give me an update! We did eat lunch there after hearing this news and the food was still AMAZING!
Also...I know this is not on the topic, but do you know who you are using for hair?

Allegedly it will be ready by May just in time for the summer.

A friend of mine got married at the Allegria at the end of January. The area where the ceremony and reception took place looked fine, but from what I heard the lobby was wrecked in the storm. Also, the boardwalk over by the hotel was ripped up.

I went at the end of January to check it out since that where my hotel block is and the lobby was still a disaster. It was just awful. They have assured me it would be finished by mid-March, but who knows. The beach out back also looked to be in terrible shape. I guess that is to be expected. It was really sad to see.

Re: Hurrican Sandy/LONG BEACH Weddings - Help?
I tried to upload a picture I took a week ago a few blocks from the Allegria. The boardwalk is taken down except for the cement part that the boards are attached to. The beach also doesn't look so great because of the temporary dunes they had to build for protection.**i put pix in an album in case anyone was curious**
