I just got a revised proposal from my florist incorporating both roses and hydrangea. Well, I was really surprised to see that the price increased even though I cut the # of roses in half. I know hydrangea is more expensive, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how much they usually are per stem?
Right now, I'm being charged $325 PER CENTERPIECE for 60 roses & 9 hydrangea. So if my florist charges $3 per rose ($180), they want $16 per hydrangea?? That can't be right, can it?

WOW! Really? And I was thinking of hydrangeas for the church or mixed in the Bo-K's with some roses & callas. Maybe not.....thats a bit pricey I think. Let me know! Good Luck!

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
I should add that my hall requires me to use one of two florists, so not having interviewed many florists,I have no idea what 'normal' prices are. But $325 per centerpiece for some roses & hydrangea seems really ridiculous to me. They were charging me $300 before when it was 100 roses, but how is it still so expensive??!!! Sorry for the vent, I'm just really frustrated.

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
My entire wedding is blue hydrangeas and white roses. I am paying about $50 per centerpiece. Those prices are WAY out of line, unless you want green, they are the most expensive. All of my wedding flowers are costing me less than 3 of your centerpieces.
FM me for details.

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
are you using arcadia?? wow? thats alot of $$ per stem for a hydrangea!! are you getting a rare color? i am also using arcadia and i think my roses and hydrangea mixed candlabras were $175 each! i would say thats alittle too expensive per stem for hydrangeas- these are mine...
My bouquet was a huge bunch of white hydrangeas and it cost me 150. My BMs had pink roses and dark pink hydrangeas mixed in for 95 each. It may also depend on the season?

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
it totally sucks that you can only choose from 2 florists....thats not enough options to find what works for you
and at those prices...what a rip!
i would definitly make my own at that point....isnt there a floral warehouse you can buy bulk flowers and make them on your own?
how flexible are you on what flowers to use? i love hydrangeas cause they were my grandmothers fave flower but at that price, i would pick something less $$$

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
funny part is glen island where jenniesunshine & i are both getting married wouldnt even let you do you own flowers even if you were a florist or you mom/family member owned one and wanted to give it to you as a gift! they are very strict w/ the florists and you can only use 1 of 2 florists that happen to be the most expensive in westchester. I am using arcadia who is one of them and i don't think there prices were that pricey, but your centerpieces seem a little high to me!

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
That's insane!! My flowers were all white roses & blue hyrangeas (a few yellow thrown into the CP's) and my entire florist bill (11 CP's, our table arrangement, my bo-k, MOH & Jr BM bo-ks, a gardenia corsage, a rose corsage & five bouts) was less than three of your CP's!!!!
Good luck!!

Personally, I would make a major (stink) with my hall. Rip off.

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
I want all roses for my CP's too and I like when there is little greenery showing, therefore you need lots of roses like you're having. One of the florists actually suggested using hydrangeas to lower the price since they take up more room. It doesn't seem right that the price went up! It doesn't seem right Can you go to the other recommended florist for your hall and see how much they charge?

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
Fairylise--I think I might call them and ask them to make mine similar to yours (if you don't mind) because this is getting ridiculous. There's no way I'm spending this much $$$ for pink roses and pink hydrangea.
Lax431--I'm also not big on greenery which is why the other centerpiece with all roses was $300 each, but I can't understand why if I'm using a larger flower like hydrangea that you need LESS of, it's MORE expensive.
I already signed a contract with Arcadia and gave them a $500 deposit, but I'm close to just cancelling with them and going to Diana Gould (the other florist) if we can't work out something with price. I'll take a loss of $500 if it saves me thousands in flowers.

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
go right ahead and ask them to do something similar! I just don't understand why it is so much still! I would have there are a/b 25 of each in my CP's! i guess if you wanted a fuller CP it would double them now that I am thinking about it! good luck! are you working w/ jennifer there?

Hydrangeas are expensive, but that just seems insane. I am pretty sure though, that pink is the most expensive color.
