I paid $4.50 per stem of hydrangea and 80 cents for each rose when I made the CP's for my e-party. I ordered them from a site online (www.onlinewholesaleflowers.com). I know he is charging you more for the labor to make them but according to wholesale prices 80 roses = $64 and 9 stems hydrangea = $40.50. I think $325 is way overpriced. How many CP's do you need? Here are some pics of the ones I made myself. The flower quality was great and the flowers lasted about 10 days before they started to die. I know you are not going to make them yourself but just to give you an idea of what wholesale prices are.

Re: Hydrangea--$$ per stem?
If you talk with the florist and let them know you are close to cancelling with them, they might try to negotiate better with you. What you're paying is a lot more business and $ than $500 they would get from your deposit. I would suggest going to the other florist that your hall allows and getting a quote from them to see what the price difference is. Some hydrangeas are sprayed a certain color or they can be imported which may be the price increase. What color are they?

I would get a quote from the other florist and frankly from another as well -- cannot hurt in terms of having evidence of gouging when you go back to Arcadia. And I fully agree, $500 is nothing when you consider the rip off they are planning.

$325 per CP that is crazy. i want sort of what you do...a lot of rose packed together but i never thought that it would cost that much...(i am going to have to use Arcadia or Dina Gould too) please let me know the outcome.... i was also wondering...why don't i hear a lot about Diana Gould. everyone from Glen Island talks about Arcadia, but i rarely hear about Diana Gould???

I'm not sure why no one really talks about Diana Gould. I do remember that the initial quote I got from one of the florists there was very high--so it might be that a lot of brides are scared away by that (myself included). Also, I've heard that some of their florists are a little snooty.
I guess I'm just lucky I'm only having around 10 tables, so I only need 10 centerpieces I'm thinking of ditching the whole high centerpiece thing and looking into low ones--I heard they're less expensive but I don't know if that's true.
Kimberly--those arrangements are gorgeous! I wish I could hire YOU!

I am having 30-36 roses with 5-6 stems of hydrangea for $48 each CP.
And the BM bo-ks are all white hydrangrea (3-4 stems) and I am paying $28.
So, yeah I think you are getting overcharged!

Yes, hyndrangea is expensive. My cps have hydrangea & roses , but only 6 roses & they were included in my reception package, so the cp itself costs about $90.

That's unusually low.
