I HATE when that happens....
It always seems to happen in a month where you think you're ahead of the game. Grrrrr

I'm sorry.
Is your car under warranty - maybe the repairs will be covered? If not, maybe you are better off taking it somewhere else (that's cheaper) to be fixed?
Good luck!!

What kind of car do you have? What type of service does it need?

Take your car to someone you trust. I gather you don't trust the dealer. But not all dealers are rip offs (sorry I have to defend DH). Hopefully it's not as bad as you thought! Good Luck!

Re: Hyperventilating...car needs to go for service
I agree not 'all' dealers are a rip off.. just most.
Being from another state Im terrified of some of these chop shops I see. The first time my baby went in for repairs they wrecked my car!
Still I avoid dealerships if it's a repair that isn't necessarily something that has to be done by the dealership.
I found a 'chop shop' sort of place that I now trust in Uniondale. It came recommeded by the guy who changes my oil. I keep up with the upkeep on my car to the point of obessiveness.
Whats wrong with it?

Re: Hyperventilating...car needs to go for service
It's a 2000 Saturn..out of warantee....the service engine soon light is on which means it's something with emissions and my oil pressure light goes on sometimes which either means low oil (I have to check) or not enough oil is getting into the engine. It might need brakes again (I did them a year ago!!) and it needs an inspection (WAYYYY over due)......sigh

YOU SHOULD ASK MR.P IF HE KNOWS SOMEONE TO HELP YOU
Re: Hyperventilating...car needs to go for service
check your oil...before you start up your car again...if there isn't enough...you could kill the engine (believe me - I did it) and then the car is BEYOND repair!!!

Park the car on a flat surface....Before you check the oil. If the engine oil is low, the light will go on.
As for brakes, I would not bring the car back to Saturn. I would take the car to a shop that only repairs brakes and stuff. If you are in the Valley Stream Area, I know an excellent shop.
It is called Wonderama, and they are on Rockaway Avenue. My father is friends with the owner and his son. We have been bringing our cars there for many years.
As far as the check engine light....you could bring it to a mechanic or to Saturn. You may be better off bringing it to Saturn. It may be something little or it may be something really big.
Do you know anyone that is a mechanic that can hook up a computer to the car?? If so they could diagnose the problem sometimes really fast....Then maybe you can get the part yourself and have a friend fix it...that is if you know anyone handy....
