Hypothetical for you all . . . (Poll)

Original post by BriBri529

Bridesmaid and family (including children and husband) are in your wedding. She hires someone to watch the kids at the wedding and reception. This is their regular sitter. Bridesmaid asks if it is ok if the babysitter ride in the limo with them since they are all coming from Nassau county and she feels bad making the sitter drive by herself. How would you feel about this? Would you be ok with it? upset? Annoyed?

no sitter in the limo. There are 2 words that you used that are key...

She HIRES someone to watch the kids AT the wedding.

So, there's no reason this person who was *hired* to babysit kids *at* a wedding should even expect to ride in a limo. She should be prepared to do the driving.

I agree with this post

She can either drive herself or get a ride from another guest. If you want to be nice and I imagine that's what you are doing by even feeling bad about this, then you can arrange to call someone who you think wouldn't mind driving her. The other alternative is, that they as a family go together in their own car with the babysitter. I feel that everyone would be more comfortable with that.

I would be annoyed she is not part of the BP she can drive herself

I think the sitter should take her own car. Isn't she going to go home afterwards? She should have her own transportation to & from the wedding.

Bri - there's nothing else I can say that everyone else hasn't already expressed! I would definitely be uncomfortable and I do not think it's a appropriate at all!
Not to sound like a beyotch - but she is technically 'hired help' for the day of the wedding and in no way should be riding in the limo with you guys!

Have her drive up front with the limo driver so she doesn't get in anyones way. If it were me, I'd probably be upset, but as to not cause any hurt feelings or problems I'd just say whatever and make her sit up front with the driver.

This is exactly what I would suggest also. It's going to be their problem how she gets from the church to the reception and then home.

I would ask another guest to give her a ride. If they are coming to your house to get the limo, can someone in your family give her a lift to the church?

They should just pay her more (or pay for her gas) and tell her to take her own car to the wedding. I wouldn't want the babysitter in the limo with me... JMO!!! I hope it all works out.

If I was the babysitter I wouldn't even want to go in the limo! That is awkward.

I would not have a problem with the sitter riding along. Especially if the couple is good to you. I would just try to make BP happy, I made sure all BP girlfriends/boyfriends were offered a seat in limo. So much was going on in the limo, you probably won't even notice she is there. Good Luck

Honestly, I would just let her ride in the limo. I know it's a little akward, but the parents are spending a lot of money on your wedding- between the attire for the parents and kids, paying for the plate of the babysitter, paying the babysitter for her time, AND giving you a gift. I really think you should let them have their way on this one.

How are they all getting home after the wedding? Won't they need at least one car at the reception site?

That's what I'm thinking

You may not be able to fit them all in the limo.. I think there is a law that requires all children under the age of 5 to be in a car seat and that usually takes up 2 spaces...Check with your limo company..
