Hypothetical for you all . . . (Poll)

Hypothetical for you all . . . (Poll)

Bridesmaid and family (including children and husband) are in your wedding. She hires someone to watch the kids at the wedding and reception. This is their regular sitter. Bridesmaid asks if it is ok if the babysitter ride in the limo with them since they are all coming from Nassau county and she feels bad making the sitter drive by herself. How would you feel about this? Would you be ok with it? upset? Annoyed?

why is the whole family riding in the limo in the first place? Shouldn't it just be the BM?

You are taking the whole bridal party in the limo?

How are they all getting home after the wedding? Won't they need at least one car at the reception site?

no sitter in the limo. There are 2 words that you used that are key...

She HIRES someone to watch the kids AT the wedding.

So, there's no reason this person who was *hired* to babysit kids *at* a wedding should even expect to ride in a limo. She should be prepared to do the driving.

so she invited this sitter to your wedding too? why couldnt they take the kids home after the ceremony?? fh and i are going in the escalade w/ our BP after the church, but i would not let one of them bring their whole family!! that sounds strange. just tell her your sorry but there really isnt room, blah blah.

I wouldn't like it. It should be the bridal party bc they are special to you and deserve to be there-not some random person that you don't even know.

The kids are invited to the reception since the BM, her husband (and FH's brother) and the children are IN OUR WEDDING. We really thought it was a good idea and AGREED that she have her baby sitter watch the kids. They are going to be covering her plate in addition to our gift and paying her. This was all fine until I was asked if she can come in the limo since she felt bad having her drive all the way out here. I really feel like I shouldn't make a fuss over it because they are SO good to us, but I just feel like that is not right, that she should drive herself or ride with someone else. I kind of felt put on the spot when asked. She will only fit in the limo until they get to the church. At that point she would have to ride with someone else. I just don't feel comfortable with this arrangement and felt very put on the spot . . .

ETA: I also feel weird because there are our own parents that won't be riding in limo because they didn't want us spending the extra money. I just don't feel comfortable with this . . . But I don't feel comfortable saying no either.

Im just wondering how the family is getting home from the reception? Are they taking the limo? Im not having limos and I really dont know how they work, but I thought only the bride and groom left in it. If the whole family comes with you, how will they get home> It might be a good idea for the sitter to bring a car to take them home in.

If I were the baby sitter I wouldn't even want to ride in the limo to me that would be totally uncomfortable. Did they even ask her how she'd feel about that?

I don't think she would mind . . . she is pretty out going . . . I felt weird about the whole thing and just wanted to see if I was overreacting . . . I am not going to make an issue out of it, just wanted to see how others would think/feel

how old are the kids? maybe you could suggest she drive herself incase the kids get tired, that way she could always just take them home??

She's watching 7 kids, 4 of them are my brother and his wife's, and 3 of them are my sister and her husband's.

I would say no because the only people that should be in the limo are the people closest to you. You dont even know this person and she is going to be in the limo on the most important day of your life?

If I were her, Id feel uncomfortable in the limo.

I would think she needs to drive regardless because how else would everyone get home?

Have her drive up front with the limo driver so she doesn't get in anyones way. If it were me, I'd probably be upset, but as to not cause any hurt feelings or problems I'd just say whatever and make her sit up front with the driver.

Yes. There all my nieces, and nephews. I've known the babysitter since she was little.

If she can only fit in the limo for the ride to the ceremony and will then have to 'hitch' a ride with someone else to the reception, then she should skip the ceremony and drive on her own to the reception. (OR she should drive on her own to both the ceremony and the reception.)

If she were riding in the limo the whole time, that would be one thing. But since she cannot do that, you will have to impose on someone else to take the babysitter from the ceremony to the reception, and that, IMO, is unacceptable.

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh...I don't mean it to be! It is just my opinion. I think it's great that the kids will have someone to watch them, but there is no reason why the babysitter should be treated like a member of the BP when she clearly is not. Especially when you will have to put someone else out to take her along after the ceremony!

Good luck!

this is simple to me, but i may just be mean i guess... HECK NO! She can drive by herself, we are talking nassua county not a different state. she has no business going in the limo with the bridal party, i think the parents could 'watch' the kids until the reception, where the babysitter would meet

good luck deciding, but personally i think you are being too nice by even contempating it

Yikes-what an unexpectedly touchy subject.

I say give her a helmet and some goggles and strap her in a side car that runs along the side of the limo...
