I don't really know much about diets and working out.
But lately I've been eating turkey sausage patties as a snack when I get hungry. They're delicious and fill me up...they don't have any carbs!

I hate to tell you this, but if you are working out, your body needs carbs. Try eating whole grains, this should ease some of the cravings and keep things healthy.....

R u dieting?

Southbeach is good for low carb...u actually can't eat any simple carbs (bread) in the first 2 wks and u stop craving them! Then it allows whole wheat stuff in after 2 wks.

Ok also how many times a day r u eating? I find that eating 5-7 times a day helps you to feel satisfied and then u don't crave bad things. Also nuts help curb my apetite!

I've done no carbs hardcore before and honestly I was in the best shape of my life. It's tough in the begining but once you get in the groove I couldn't even stand putting carbs into my mouth.I saw the amazing results!

Give it 4 weeks...and you will stop craving them. And the weight will melt away. I'm a currently a size 0-2. I was about 8-10 lbs lighter then i am now when i was not eating carbs. I lost that within 3 months. I was the tiniest i have ever been in my life and I am planning on doing it for my wedding!

You do no carbs hard core, (limit your low carb bread too) and you have 5 months you can easily lose up to 20+. My boyfriend always does it before a trip or something- he can drop sooo much weight quickly. And my FH father lost over 90 lbs doing low carb! Amazing right?

It will stay with you too. How i now eat is probably what you would consider 'South beach' which I believe is a healthy way to eat. Natural with whole grains. But for my wedding I will be cutting it all carbs out. I want to look my best!

Good luck! With the running a low carbs! you'll get there!

Im not a fan of no carb diets because they are not a realistic or healthy way to eat. Any diet should be something that you can feasibly stick to your entire life. I don't think anybody would be able to do NO carbs forever. Rather than eliminating all carbs, try to eliminate processed carbs. Stick to whole grain foods, brown rice etc. Keep these foods during the first half o fyour day. I eat 5-7 meals a day all composed of a green veggie, lean protein and good fat. 2 of my meals have a 'brown' carb in them and 2 have a piece of fruit. My carb meals are within hte first three meals of my day. Your body needs carbohydrates. If you are working out this is especially true.

Sure, no carb diets can help you drop pounds quickly. Your body often things its starving. But the second you go back to living a 'normal' lifestyle, the weight comes on and often doubles! Nutrition and diet is something that I have realy struggled with my entire life. We (women) get so worked up about looking thin that we forget that food is fuel for our bodys. Cutting out entire groups from our lives is not smart, in my opinion. Hope this helps. FM if you have any questions.

i loveeeeeeee carbs too.. and i lost 6 lbs by staying off carbs.. but i crave them too.. so what i do i eat very small amounts..

also since you are running, try brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat pasta.. your metabolism should be really high now, so you should be able to burn in off without any problems.. and congrats on losing 24, i have another 10 more to go..

Try eating carbs the nite before you do your running...and start adding light weight training...that will help you build muscle and burn more fat...make sure you eat a decent breakfast to help keep your metabolism going and make sure you are getting enough protein.

Also make sure you drink enough...sometimes when you think you are hungry it's because you are actually thirsty...so try drinking a glass of water before having more carbs...i've never been a fan of low carb dieting...i've always stuck to lowering my fat intake and just eating healthy and working out regularly. Good luck!

Definately agree with all of you girls....you have to find a balance. I'm a huge beliver in fruit and whole grains. I believe moderation is the way to be.

After rereading my previous post, it really sounded extreme and that is really not my lifestyle at all...ha ha...i love me some desserts & chocolate!

I was just trying to make the point Low carb can be a great way to begin your weight loss process or knock off a few extra. Then start to include healthy carbs. But if you want to knock off those last few lbs before the wedding- be extra strict on your carbs a few weeks before.

I agree, complete NO CARB it is not something maintainable for ever, but having a sandwhich on lettace instead of bread and eating lot of berries and proteins for a few weeks will make a difference for your wedding!

But honestly, if you are running THAT much- you body needs some type of carbs. Just make sure they are GOOD ONES like fruit and brown rice.

Re: I <3 Carbs Yet hate them :-(

I have been working out for years but for the past two years I have not been able to work out due to an injury. I recently started going back to working out and I am running 3.5 miles daily but I am also doing 40 minutes of weight training. I am actually eating a little bit more because I want to gain muscle mass.
You need to build muscle to burn fat so start pumping some iron.
I recommend you eat some carbs in the morning to mid afternoon and absolutely no carbs after 6:00pm. Dont forget that when you eat carbs at night they turn into fat.
Try also breaking your meals into smaller portions that way you can eat them through out the day. I eat about 6 to 7 small meals and I have not gained any weight and I was not working out before. Eating small portions throughout the day helps your metabolism. Hope my info helps and good luck!!!

This is great advice from everyone! I try so hard to eat healthy too and work out ALOT! It is really a struggle to stay this weight! Plus I LOVE chocolate, candy, cake, etc etc...pizza, pasta, bagels, chocolate, junk, etc, etc! LOL!

Anyway, I try and eat good 6 days a week and divulge every once in a awhile!!!!!!!

Also remember, yes extra carbs at night time turns to fat...but in general, extra calories (carbs, fat, protein) turns to fat...nutrition and weight loss is about calories in vs. calories burned and eating a balance!

I have a problem...I am either on super-woman weight loss mode...eat so healthy, work out like crazy...Or I eat pasta and cookies and dont work out at all. So I loose 15 lbs, gain 15 lbs, loose 15 lbs, gain 15 lbs.
How do I stay on track and loost weight slowly and consistently??

I think you are fluxing so much because you are going to two extremes! If you starving yourself from the good stuff for weeks, you are just going to cave in at some point.

Try to eat health 6 days a week. I find with work, my schedule is regulated enough- i pretty much eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch almost every day. Then treat yourself on the weekends a bit.

Re: I <3 Carbs Yet hate them :-(

im doing the hard core no carb diet!! i lost 7 pounds in a week!

i have allergies to gluten, so, honestly, this type of diet actually is possible for a life time.

The trick to NOT gaining it all back is to slowly ease into carbs and not go beast mode on them lol. sweets are horrible for use anyway, as well as junk food. if we could find a way to control ourselves and ease into fruits and a veggies instead of massive sweet and junk, we can definitely keep it off.

im so glad this topic is out there, this diet is the only one of its kind that gives instant gratification. ive been hitting up the gym several days a week as well. the only cheat day i will allow myself is my engagement party 4-19 and my birthday 6-12.

what does everyone have for snacks?

Just wondering....how did you figure out you were allergic to gluten?

naturopathic doctor,

but i always knew it. i know its gross, but i would get severe cramps, bloating and gas every single time i put anything that came from wheat in my tummy. because of alternative medicine, ive become so in tune with my body and realize when something is good or bad for me. and gluten is def a no no for me.
