Step-parents are truly parents, especially if they chose to be.

My stepmother is like my 'real' mother.I think so often people marry people with children and don't realize that a step-parent is a major person in one's life. My mother married a horrible man who always said, 'he married a women, not a mother'. he has caused our family soooo much pain. so your stepson is lucky that you love him and want him to be a part of your family, because he is your family too.

I feel the same way you do Michele. I take my new title very seriously. I try my best to treat my stepson as my own. I think I do an OK job It's amazing how our relationship has flourished in the past few years, especially the past 2. He is such a joy. Sometimes I even get sad I'm not the one who gave birth to him b/c I am so proud of him. I get sad when he leaves us. He shows me so much Love it's amazing. Len loves watching us together, it's all hugs and kisses, and a lot of respect.

Thats great that you are so happy to be a Stepmom. As Im sure you know, not everyone embraces it - although they know the child exists long before they get married. Your stepson is a very lucky kid. And so good looking!

Liz, ABSOLUTELY you ARE A MOM! And you take the title so seriously, and that makes it all the more YOURS Your role in Ashtons life is so important, and it's soooo obvious that you are doing a wonderful job at it. Im sure he looks up to you and adores you also. He seems like such a well behaved and respectful boy (and a cutie pie too!) Watch out mommy, those girls will come knockin !

The 'older' girls are already knocking He's 11 years old and these older girls looking at him. DH is freaked out over this But he is such a good boy. And DH talks to him A LOT about the birds and the bees. Kids grow up so fast these days
I have to say tho' his main interest is not girls, THANK GOD, it's basketball We encourage him as much as we can to keep his thoughts OFF girls

You are 100% correct that you are already a Mom. I think you all are so fortunate to have such a loving relationship. Just becuase you didn't give birth to him doesn't mean your role should be any less!! Brandon has a wonderful relationship with Steven as well, however that with his 'bio dad' leaves alot to be desired
As the special magnet that B gave to Steve read 'Anyone can be a father, it takes someoone special to be a DAD!!

My stepmother became a part of my life when I was 9. It was interesting because she always knew that she did NOT want any children (she had her tubes tied when she was 24) but she met my father who had 3 children. My parents had joint custody, so we stayed at their house every other week. She was a mother to us, although strict at times. I learned several things from her though, like the importance of an education and the importance of being independent and learning to take care of yourself! I am thankful for these things. She read at my wedding and she was a part of the pictures. I got a bit pi$$ed when I was planning my wedding and people would refer to her as my father's wife. No, she is my STEP-MOTHER!!! There is a difference! And I had to insist that the photographer got pictures of the two of us, like he got pictures of my mother and I, and she was escorted down the aisle by a GM, like my MIL and my mother. A step-mother can be a very important person in your life, like mine was in my life.
