I am a Bridesmaid now, and I

I am a Bridesmaid now, and I

don't like either of the dresses she has picked out. I do like the dresses they are pretty, but I know they will look absolutely horrible on me. One of the dresses is one of the ones I was considering choosing fro my BP, but it didn't look right on one of my girls, and we loved the other dress, we went with.

So the question is what do I do?? I know it should be her pick, but one be dress has a halter top, and the other has a strange top, kinda like a halter top. I think that i will be too heavy for the dress, even though they will make it in the size I need, but I will look and feel horrible.

Have you tried the dress on with her yet? I think if you tell her that you will be uncomfortable in the dresses, she might understand. I personally am not going to choose the style of the dresses, my girls will be choosing that together. I will only pick the color and the material, for this reason. Not everyone looks good in the same styles. I would just tastefully and carefully mention to her that you are not comfy in those styles. I'm sure she'll understand. Whether she changes the dress or not, who's to say, but at least you tried. Good luck!

Rachel, I have not tried them on, and I won't be able to since I am a plus size, and I don't think we will find it in anything but a 10 or 12.

Also, it is DH's sister, and we don't always get along, she even dropped out of my bridal party 3 moths before the wedding, so I don't know if she will flip, if i say i don't like something.

shelzyp...I was in a wedding 2 summer's ago...and we had to wear a halter dress. I hated it...I didn't think it flattered me at all...but it was not my choice and that's what the rest of the girls picked. I couldn't try it on either...because I was not the sample size. Unfortunately...I had to suck it up and wear the dress...sorry :(

That really stinks shelzyp But I think the black and white one might be ok. It has a little more on the top than the second one. I'm surprised those are the two choices, they're both TOTALLY different. Who has the ultimate choice between the two, the girls or her? In your situation, I would put my vote in for the black and white one if you don't feel you can confront her. I think you should just wear whatever it is you have to wear with confidence anyway (Ok, a little Suzy Sunshine-y, but hey, it might work )

The black and white one, might be a problem becasue if a girl has larger then average boobs, it will not work. My friedn tried it on, and had a DD chest, and the white part only came down to the middle of the chest. Also the yellow, has a matching Jr BM, so I think that might be chossen one. I don't think she will care about anyone but herself in making this decision. so I don't think the votes would even matter.

I agree - it stinks
But, she is the bride, and you said yes to being a BM. Along with that goes her choice of dress, unfortunatly! It's only one day, and it has nothing to do with you, so just smile, wear it with confidence! I'm sure it looks better than you think!

I , having the larger than average chest, should have thought about that shelzyp! Good luck. Don't worry, it will just be one day. Luckily all the attention is on her that day!

I know it is just one day, and i really don't want to be a BM, but I feel that if I say no, then there will be a war since she dropped out of mine.

I just know that I really cared baout how the girls looked, and I really wanted my BM to be comforable, but I have to remember that not everyone is as concerned about their BM's comfort as I was.

I think I might go to David's Bridal and try on different styles, so that I can have an actual opinion on what looks good and what does not look good on me, so I can definitivly say, that it does not look good, or know that something will look good.

Thanks for all your help.

Try calling different bridal stores, see if SOMEONE, ANYone carries them in plus sizes. Is she having any other girls in her BP that are not a size10 as well? Maybe you could get them on your side!

Unless your boob pops out!

Good luck!

Since she dropped out of your wedding, I would just drop out of hers. Say you can't afford it. I think the BP should be comfortable, I don't think it is fair to make people uncomfortable just because you are bride. JMO

My dh wants to be in the BP, so that we can be the bigger people. And we asked her if she wanted to drop out, then it would be okay, so we can't be upset about it, even though we are.

I figured that she wouldn't ask us, when the time came for her to get marreid, but she did, and DH says it would just be better for us to be in it.

That's why I'm having all my BM's wear whatever dress & style they are comfortable in, just as long as the color matches . If she is insistent on that particular dress, then maybe you can at least get a shawl or something with it? Otherwise, I kind of agree with Karen about maybe dropping out. Why should you feel uncomfortable all day?

I would think if they had to 'make it' special for you the designer didn't think it would look on you or else they would have made more in that size. But try the dress on, you never know. If you really aren't comfortable in it say something to the bride.

I'm pretty sure David's has a dress like the yellow one, at least with a similar neckline. Good luck!

I know what you mean though, one of my BMs got married in June and originally picked out a dress that wasn't going to look so great on me. Luckily it was changed, but I would've worn it regardless.
