I am annoyed with my church!
I am really annoyed.
We are supposed to have our rehearsal with the Deacon. Even though, the Deacon will not partake in the ceremony at all. The priest doesn't do the rehearsals the Deacons do.
So I spoke with the Deacon's wife yesterday since he wasn't home and she informed me that the way they do it in the church is the girls walk down with the guys (I want the girls to come down alone). She told me WHO is going to be up at the altar next to FH and I and that FH and I don't make that decision. Is this for real? I was fuming when I got off the phone with her because she wasn't listening to me at all with what I was saying. Then she had the NERVE to say why isn't my mother walking down the aisle with me. And made some sarcastic remark when I told her because she isn't! According to her, in the church its tradition to have the girls walk with the GMs. I have NEVER heard in the Catholic church it being tradition that the bride walks in with both her parents!
To boot, we can only have the rehearsal on a Thursday which of course is the day before my wedding.
Then she was arguing with me on the time. She kept saying 7:30. HELLO!!! I don't want to go to bed at midnight the night before my wedding!!! That because the priests have dinner at 6:00, we can't have the rehearsal at that time. I don't see what the problem is since none of the priests will be assisting and its not like we are going to have a party in the church to intterupt their dinner! They have dinner in the rectory anyway, which is across from the church.
I may be acting selfish and I understand that churches do have their rules, but she wasn't being accomodating at all. I will talk to my priest in more detail next week and get his take on what is appropriate to do. He is the one doing the ceremony not her nor the Deacon. So ultimately, he can make the final decision. The fact that I have to pay so much money to get married their, the 'donation' as they call it, irritates me as it is..
