I am canceling my wedding on October 5, 2007 and just called and found out I can not get my money back only a credit. What do i do? Any one have any ideas. I broke up with my FH and could really use that money...I have a mortage...i don't know what to do. Help!

in addition to posting it here, can you also try to sell it to some Sweet 16 girls, anniversaries, etc. They can take the date from you too, or take the credit they are offering.

I am so sorry to hear this but if it will make you feel any better legally as the ladies said you are entitled to receive your money back sans $100. I am sure that they just think that you are not aware of the LAW. Once you inform them that you do, after their jaws drop to the floor I am sure they will begrudgingly yet lawfully oblige and refund you your money. Please update us on the situation

You'll lose 500 right off the bat as a processing fee. Every deposit you've paid will be turned in to a credit for another even within 3 years (totally transferable).
If you are more than 6 months away, that is all you stand to lose. If you are within 6 months, you are liable if the event is not rebooked
(off the back of the CLM contract)

even if the contract says this, if they are located in suffolk they still cant hold your money (except $100) if you cancel more then 6 months before... County law prevails over contracts...

So sorry to hear about this! This must be a really hard time for you. Hopefully, everything works out in the end! I would inquire about what these girls are saying about Suffolk law because it sounds like you should be able to get most of your money back. Let us know how you are doing. Lots of luck!

I am sooooooooo sorry to hear this. Perhaps you could sell your date to another bride on here? Post the date / hall information here and on Craig's list. Maybe someone will want that date and will purchase the contract from you.

I'm so sorry to hear that Listen to the other girls on here and their info about cancellation policies. Look at it online...its all there. Worse comes to worse, people sell cancelled RH dates on Ebay! Try that also if you have to!
