I have never been fired before...I am debating on whether to quit and keep my dignity, or let them fire me....

I was actually watching a show this morning and they said even if you are being fired right then, ask if you can resign instead, so that way you can say you resigned on future interview/applications, you can honestly say you were never fired.
I think resigning is a good idea.

Jennifer, I think you're right....I really dont want to have to say I was fired. I dont know how to resign. Do I march myself up to human resources tomorrow and tell them? should I tell them I saw the post?

Yes it makes me not eligable (sp) for unemployment. BUT listen to this, I was just speaking to my mother about it....I am going to Jury Duty next week...they cant fire me for going ot Jury Duty, its against the law.

I feel like I will have more dignity if I resign. Getting fired (especially for what they are claiming) is just such a blow to my self esteem. I hate that I even have to talk about this, when I should be asking to see centerpieces and stuff like that....

If you're 'fired' it is usally for some sort of insubordination or breech of company policy, both of which make you ineligible for unemployment anyway. Only people who are laid off are eligible.
I agree about resigning - you don't want this to be a stigma on your resume for the next few years.

I know, I went to the New York State unemployment website, and there is no way you can collect unemployment if you arent laid off, or the company goes under, etc.
However, You can be sure that I am not gonna hold back on my exit interview and honesly tell HR the reason Im leaving
