I am FLIPPING OUT RIGHT NOW

Well my FI just text messaged me asking me about the insurance for my ring...originally it was on his parents home owners insurance and then I was going to transfer it to my mom's home owners insurance....well I kept forgeting to do that BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS still under his parents....well ITS NOT His Dad canceled it months ago apparently and now my ring is uninsured

I want to cry right now I am sooo upset

oh boy!!! Don't panic!!! Make sure you call today & try to get it insured....I can't believe your FFIL cancelled it & you FH never told you about it!!

Kathleen, I'm so sorry. My ring is still uninsured as well & I'm flipping out on FH. He keeps meaning to get the appraisal in our safety deposit box, but he doesn't. URRRRR!!! I had told him I was not going to wear it until its insured to get him moving, but I can't bear to leave it off my finger.

We are going with a policy that just does jewelry, its fairly reasonable---about $178 a year.

Things will work out.

on the phone now with the insurance agent I am so mad at my FI...I mean I know I was supposed to do this BUT he never told me it ...

You know.. i never had my ring insured. I talked about it when I first got it, but then just kind of forgot about it..

don't worry about it - - it only takes minutes to process the policy. You'll be set by tomorrow- - just be careful in the meantime!

My ring isn't insured either and I work in the ghetto. I know I should have it insured, but I'm too lazy to have it appraised and then insure it. Plus it's just another fee to pay....

Kathleen, Take a deep breath and turn your ring around so noone can see it. Get your appraisal faxed over to your insurance agent ASAP and they should be able to insure it right away. That was all my insurance agent needed. If you can't get that done, see if your mom has a safety deposit box in her bank and put it there until it is insured. Thats where my mom's e-ring is because it has to be repaired and she is too nervous to leave it home.

I work in a ghetto too. I wouldn't wear it unless it was insured. If someone held a gun to my head and asked for the ring, I would ask them if they wanted it gift wrapped. Id much rather pay a fee or increase in my insurance than have FH have to buy me a new ring which he is in no position to do - not when we have a wedding to pay for. It costs me more to insure my ring than to insure my apartment. Yes my apartment is small but this ring is KILLER!!!

Relax... I'm sure this must have been a misunderstanding on your FIL's part. You have been engaged for awhile now and nothing has happened to your ring. Keep doing what you have been doing and get it insured asap.

Its actually NOT the least of my problems...but I am worried that I am walking around in a bad neighborhood with a diamond ring that is uninsured

I was paranoid about getting my ring insured also. There are so many things that can happen to the ring. Its a fee to pay now, but in the long run its worth it...even if its just for a little piece of mind.
