I am getting really nervous...

I am getting really nervous...

This is month 7 of TTC and nothing yet. Do you have to wait til the 1 year mark - did anyone see a specialist before? I never thought it would take this long and now I am getting really upset. I keep telling myself maybe God wants me to getting my teaching cert first or lose some weight....anyway every month gets more and more frustrating.

Re: I am getting really nervous...

I started trying on my honeymoon (November 2003) and started going to the RE (a specialist) September 2004. I knew I would have a hard time getting pregnant. I got pregnant in January. Have you spoken to your OB? Maybe they can run some tests on you and DH before going to a specialist. My OB didn't offer to do tests on me so I took it upon myself to go to a specialist. If you need a recommendation for a specialsit, let me know.

I was told that if you have been ttc for six months with no luck, then you should go see someone....

Don't get nervous - month 8 was the lucky one for me!

We're on month 6 and no luck yet. I just went to my OB/GYN and he said that I could go see a specialist now if I wanted to.
If AF shows up tomorrow, I'm going to the specialist

Me too.

Mine said she won't even see me until June, when it's been 6 months of trying - then we can talk about options. She must be 22 and ridiculously fertile !!

I'm on month 3 and already getting frustrated. I have the same feelings sometimes, that maybe someone is trying to tell me to get my own sh!t in order before I try to bring someone else into the world.

And I want to exercise more to get in better shape, but with TTC I'm worried that if I am pregnant I'll over do it and have a problem, so I wind up using that as an excuse. Hopefully it will start to get warmer and I can start walking the dog again.

I totally know how you feel. I would schedule an appointment - even if it's just for piece of mind. You have so much going on right now - maybe your OBGYN can help relieve some of the stress.

So, the next step would be an RE?

I read somewhere that if you're 35 or older, you should see someone after 6 months of trying, if you're under 35, you should wait a year.

baby dust to you!!

I would see an RE. They would probably just run some basic tests to start.

I actually lied to my RE and told her we were trying for 6 months (when at the time we just started). She told me to come back in a couple of more months. We got married in May and I went back in August to the RE. Thank god we made that decision coz' we definitely had some issues. The RE runs a set of standard tests to see if you have any problems.

My advice------ Go see an RE (especially if you have had any kind of problems in the past i.e. abnormal paps, any kind of std's). All these can actually contribute to fertility problems.

Good luck!

Re: I am getting really nervous...

to everyone

While I am not officially TTC just yet, I can somewhat relate to how worriesome it will get when months go by and still no pregnancy to speak of. Unfortunately it seems so common to go for 6 months or longer with no success

I already know that I will have some fertility issues based on a variety of factors. First, I've had irregular periods my entire life, and sometimes skip months altogether and do not ovulate; second, I recently had a laparoscopy to remove some endometriosis, and while this should improve my chances of TTC in the short term, the longer it doesn't happen, the endo can return and thus hinder my ability to conceive , and third, I am already 35 and thus fall into that 'category' that we all read about, know and love

I saw a specialist/RE for my endo issues, but after my procedure was told by both the RE and my regular ob/gyn that we should still TTC on our own (via ovulation sticks, etc) before coming back in 6 months. Its a little frustrating because I just truly have a strong feeling that trying on own own is just not going to work, in particular because my cycles are so vastly out of whack (for instance I recently went from Dec 19th up until last week without a period! talk about frustrating!)

I guess my main concern stems from the fact that when we do actively being TTC within the next month or two, I am more than a little upset that the doctor won't even see me until I try for 6 months. That will bring me closer to age 36 ...and I just have this silly mindset that with each month that goes by without conceiving, this only brings me FURTHER away from a pregnancy (if that makes any sense, which I know it doesn't)

I will say that I do appreciate this board! I find some comfort in the fact that we all share similar experiences here and that even reading these threads makes me feel less alone in this entire process

BD to all of us!

Re: I am getting really nervous...

I have to confess that I told a little white lie and said I've been trying for a year, when it's only been 8 months. We've been using OPKs and so our timing has been ideal every month-- we really should have had some success by now!!

I was just referred to an RE, and so far my bloodwork and transvaginal sono were normal. DH's semen analysis was normal too. The good news is, after I get my next period (which should be in just a week or so), I'm starting Clomid!!!

Baby dust to all of you TTC! I sympathize so much with the frustration!!!

I would go to the RE now...The worst they can say is come back in a few months or do some tests to be sure...
