I am go to BELIZE tomorrow!!

I am going there to volunteer (dental work) but we also have time off....i am soo excited!

OH.... I LOVED Belize!!!!!!!! I wasn't impressed w/ how the water or the towns looked, but I found the place to be naturally beautiful, especially the mountains! FH and I had the most fun in Belize than anywhere else!

FH has been and really liked it.

he says just be careful in belize city. and that placencia (sp?) is by far the coolest place in belize. and that the islands of belize where the main tourist area is, is not as 'authentic,' its much more like Mexico (whatever that means). he has beautiful pics from there.

as for leisure stuff, if you go to placencia, he suggests scuba! there is a scuba expedition at Laughing Bird Cayes National Park. its a little strip of beach. he said its stunning. they also have a jungle expedition in placencia and its amazing.

FH and I went to Belize in 2005 and we had the best time. They have great snorkling there and the sunsets are gorgeous. We loved just sitting back in a hammock watching the sunset on the beach...ahhhhhhhhh!

thanks for the advice:) we are going to the rainforest and snorkeling and not sure what else!

YES.... the coral reef in Belize is the second largest in the world! The islands in Belize are the only places you'll find beaches, but it is true, Placencia is not as authentic as towns like the outskirts of Belize City. Belize City is very populated, it is very modernized, but there are a lot of hacklers....they're always trying to sell you something. If you learn to speak like them, they'll leave you alone! They're official language is English, but a few also speak Spanish. The commoners speak Patua (If you're Jamaican, or know the slang, you'll be fine!)
