my friend from hs is going away to medical school in st kitts. I need to find a gift for her. what shall i give?

is she from new york?? what about getting her one of those photography books filled with classic new york photos??? would something unique & she can be reminded of home they sell a whole slew of them in any Barnes&Nobles/borders/etc..
