Got my first installment of the Gardisil shot last night.

Anyone else got it or is getting it?

I dont think the shot will work with me...
I already had HPV, it went away after I had my daughter...
SO I dont think I can get it.... Not sure though

I AM ONE LESS too!

I got all three of my shots. I think it is very safe to get. It doesnt help all types of cervical cancer but better safe than sorry.

But I know someone who has it and the worst cancerous kind and she is very laid back about it. I dont think I would ever be laid back if my gyno told me I had HPV?! Is it just me or do some people not think it's a big deal

IMHO i would not get it. I just feel it is to new, and i dont want to be a guinea pig. What if there are side effects down the road, what if it can hurt fertility. I am not one for hopping on the band wagon when it comes to new vaccinations. The company making it though is making a fortune.

I kinda feel the same way I just feel like they don't know the long term side effects yet. But I'm not completly against it either I'm kinda in the middle on it!

I am too old too -- Missliss I will be the big 3-0 in a few months!

I recently asked my doctor about them changing the age and they said that it wouldn't hurt for someone over 26 to get it, but they found that it doesn't have the same effect so it isn't worth it. It had something to do with physical maturity.

the third shot hurt like hell so i hope it works

but i guess it's hard to tell because if people who get the shot and never get HPV it might just be becuase they weren't prone to getting it or because they had the vaccine so I wonder if anyone really does know??!! For me I just feel more comfortable knowing I have something that can possibly protect me from getting cervical cancer!

I understand how you both feel, but personally I was all for it until they told me I was too old. I know it seems like vaccines come out of no where but it does take years of research and testing before it can even be up for approval. I would just do my research and think about it.
