I've been everywhere Why can't I be made of money and just book Oheka Castle! Ugh sorry! Just venting, what is the next best thing other than a Lessing's property? They will not cut down the site fee even though I am from St. John's University of the Bourne Mansion or get rid of the 1.50 per beer that is rediculous my family will send me into bankruptcy with all of the beer that they drink! I checked out the douglaston manor, it was nice, I don't know I am so lost :( I just need some advice to find a nice alternative. I am really looking for a place with nice grounds and a lot of green to go with my garden theme.

Defiantly try the Swan Club. quite affordable and georgeous grounds. Its in Roslyn so its not far from you. It was one of our top 3!!! Good Luck!!! you will find one you love!

after a talk with my mom I am considering not worrying too much about the grounds of the RH and thinking about taking my day of pictures at a location like westbury mansion. it is making me feel a little better but we shall see what that costs me! thanks for all of your suggestions, I checked into all of them, Westbury Manor is my favorite, it was the first hall i checked into in September when I got engaged, but they don't have 11/11/11 available. Maybe it is time to consider changing my date!

I was having a problem with picking a hall as well but for November it will be a little cooler so you need to really like the inside as well. We got lucky last November was beautiful! I was so hungup on the outside look of it and in all reality you will be in the reception room the longest so you need to really like that room the best! That is my best suggestion! Westbury Manor was the first place that we went to after we got engaged and it was beautiful we just decided to look at other places bc we did love the outside area but wanted to look at other options. We live in western nassau also and we booked East Wind! It is our day and it should be where we want it to be....we know that our family and friends will be there no matter what/where.
With that said, yes, it is far BUT I am thinking about it like a mini destination wedding...I'm hoping to have a wedding weekend

I cant say enough good things about WM. I'm a weird situation bc I was married years ago and divorced and my FH (aka - Groomzilla) is insisting on a wedding. I got married there and it was fabulous.

Royalton, The Carltun and Woodlands all have that private mansion feel for a LOT cheaper than Oheka and even better food.

I am actually looking into Bourne as well. You mentioned a 1.50 per beer? What is that about? I believe you get a 2 beer selection with the open bar that is provided.

the bourne mansion menu said two bottled beers pp and then 1.50 per add'l beer, i asked for him to remove that but he wasnt okay with it so i've moved on but i absolutely ADORED the bourne mansion. i am going to see east wind today :)

Definitely check out Giorgio's...we loved Oheka too and it was out of our price range but we absolutely fell in love with Giorgio's....

I think you are misreading the Bourne Contract... they supply open bar with full hard stuff and 2 types of beer... if you want to offer more than 2 types of beer then you pay the price per person (doesn't matter if they drink the beer or not0.... but even the most picky beer drinkers will findsomething they like when they have a choice of 2 (say a light and a dark...

omg stop i definitely did read it wrong! i guess once i seen a restriction on beer i gave up on it! lol we are big beer drinkers. i went to east wind today... LOVED IT, hated the 5 pp for chair covers. lol but i am willing to oversee that and trying to not be so picky!

If your worried about the chair covers you can always go to a wholesale website and rent them. I have to look but i know of a place that rents them for cheap. Don't let that be the reason you don't book.
