I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

I am getting married at the hall. Before I call and ask a stupid question, I figured I would ask you girls. My ceremony will take place at Chateau Briand where I am having my reception. Are we allowed to rehearse there at the hall the night before? If we aren`t, how do we rehearse? Furthermore, I haven`t picked a Rabbi yet, but will he rehearse on a Saturday night? Can I use his temple even if we don`t get married there? Will the rehearsal make sense if its not at the place we are actually having the ceremony? I am in a panic! I hadn`t thought of this before. Help! Help from a CB bride would be especially appreciated!

I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

I am not Jewish (and I am sure you will get lots of other helpful brides to give you info) but I thought that you needed to be member of a Temple to get married at it. You can probably become a member if you and then book your wedding there. I have never heard of anyone hosting a rehersal at a hall, especially on the busiest night of their week, Saturday. The hall will be booked up with weddings so where would you reherse? Good Luck!!! I am sure some of the other liwedding brides will help.

I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

Im not a CB bride but I can tell you that nearly every priest and offciant I spoke to told me a rehearsal was unecessary. Of course, I still want to have one but if you absolutely can't work it out - it will be ok.

I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

In the Jewish Religion we do not reherse...It is done right before...If not you are going to have to pay the Rabbi...your best bet it to ask him...but it is not in our Traditions to reherse the night before...

I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

I am having my ceremony and reception at the Watermill and was also wondering if I could have my rehearsal at the site as well. What are other people doing that are getting married at their reception sites? I definitely want to have a rehearsal so everyone knows what to do (especially me!).

Don't panic

I do not believe you can rehearse in the hall (two friends got married in hall and were not permitted.) However, you really don't need the rehearsal. You can write up a little program, let everyone know who is escorting who, and all other details. However, I would make sure that you appoint one usher and one bridesmaid to direct the others on the actual wedding day. I am sure it will work out fine. Honestly, at mine, half the bridal party was not there because LI traffic was at its finest (3 hours from Suffolk to Brooklyn).

I am in a panic about the rehearsal...

I am getting married at the hall as well. I was told by the Banquet Manager that there is a short little rehearsal before the actual wedding. They don`t do rehearsals the night before. Like the others said it`s not really that necessary to have one.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding with no rehearsal...

My friend is Jewish, her husband is not. They got married at the Huntington Townhouse (I know) and we just took a ton of pictures before the ceremony, then we all lined up and walked down the isle. She let us all know ahead of time who we were walking down the isle with, her sister put us in order, we walked, they got married and we walked out in the opposite order as we walked in. If you can`t rehearse, don`t worry about it. Being Catholic, I was in a panic that there was not going to be a rehearsal! No rehearsal dinner, either. It seemed strange, but everything went very well. Better than another wedding I had been in where we all rehearsed the night before and my guy ended up DRAGGING me down the isle the next day and the bride was so wound up she almost passed out before the ceremony. RIGHT before the ceremony. We were all standing there staring at the closed doors for what felt like forever! Rehearsing did not help. You don`t need it. Becky

I am almost positive that the Watermill told me they would walk-through the ceremony the week before the wedding. And, my officiant said she would rehearse with us in person (at her home but not at the site) to go through the actual vows. My ceremony is indoors at the Watermill, and we do not have a big bridal party (just 2 flower girls), so we are not having a formal rehearsal and dinner. Did you ask the Watermill yet? I guess I should out this on my 'things to ask' list. I am also wondering if they allow rose petals on the runner. Are you getting married outside? And, where would the toss (rice/petals/bubbles--not sure which one yet) be??

Nina

There is so much I still need to find out from the Watermill. I was planning on meeting with their party planner within the next couple of weeks and asking her tons of questions, like this one. When are you getting married? I don't think I'll get much use out of rehearsing a week before at the Watermill as my bridal party is coming from far away and wouldn't be able to attend. The one thing I don't want to be is clueless about the ceremony, so I definitely want to do a rehearsal...we're having a bridal party of 12. I'm getting married outside and am not sure where I was going to have the toss or even if I was going to have one since my ceremony is at the reception site. What kind of ceremony music are you choosing? I am trying to find a harpist, but am having a hard time finding one for a decent price.

What we are doing

This is has been the standard at the weddings that I have been to and I will probably do the same thing. My FI and I will decide the order and we will tell people ahead of time. About a half hour before the ceremony the bridal attendant will do a dry run of the processional and show people how to walk (make sure that they don't go too fast!!) and show the girls how to hold their bouquets. )Plus, everyone is lined up in the correct order behind the curtain. I know it seems scary, but it all works out. I am getting married in a Temple, with a Rabbi and a Cantor. They are the first people to walk down the aisle. Good luck P.S. you do not need to belong to a temple to be married at it. Mi FI family and my family both belong to separate temples and yet we picked another one to be married at.

rehearsal before ceremony

I am getting married at the Fox Hollow another Scotto Brothers property and they said there is a short rehearsal before the ceremony. Since we are not seeing each other before the wedding, I won't be involved in the rehearsal. Your rabbi will tell you what to do if you have to do anything. I wouldn't worry! We're having a dinner the night before even though there is no rehearsal that night. Good Luck!
