I am living in a Wedding Response NIGHTMARE!!!! *long*

I havn't been on much lately bc we are being audited at work, so things have been CRAZY, but I am stressing the f*ck out over my wedding responses!!! Heres the story...

I live in a basement apartment that only has entry from the back of the house, which means I can not receive mail directly to my apartment, I would have to walk around the block to the front of the house to retrieve my mail. There are 3 other tenants that also live in this house. My landlord works for the post office and due to this fact, she usually puts my mail aside before it even goes out, and bring it to me every few days. This method has worked fine for the past 5 years that I have been living there. But my landlady decided to take a trip to China with her husband for 3 weeks.....and she left RIGHT when I mailed out my invitations. She left her MIL in charge, whom is old as the day is long and doesnt speak a lick of english. So FH and I have been checking the mail everyday when we come back from work....but we started to realize that we werent receiving our responses. We receive all out other mail, but NO RESPONSES!!!! It has been over 2 weeks and we received only 5!!! Now, I know that people are sending them out, bc my friends have told me that they sent theirs last week, yet I have not received any of them. Plus, I know that within the first 2 weeks is when you usually receive the MOST responses. I am FREAKING OUT. I asked all of the tenants if they have seen my response cards and I showed them what it looks like, and they all said they have not, except for 1 tenant who said she saw a few last week. So if she saw them last week, where the hell did they go??? Cuz I sure as hell didnt get them!!!! I have no idea if the old chinese lady is taking them and putting them aside, or taking them and throwing them out......I dont understand WTH is going on!!!!!!!! I want to cry, I cant believe FH and I put so much money and effort into these invitations, and now were not getting our responses!!
BTW- FH went to the post office and they dont have them. Which leads me to believe that they are being delivered but they are somehow being intercepted before they reach me. I feel like this is my fault for putting 'Future Mr. and Mrs. Godoy' on the responses rather than our full names. I think this is confusing people. I DONT KNOW WAT TO DO!!!!!

yikes, how frustrating! So you've been getting other mail except the rrsvps?

have you tried going to the landlady with a sample of the rsvps??? I'm certain with a few hand motions, she would get the point...at the very least she will bring you them if she has them on the side OR she will realize those kind of envelopes belong to you for future ones that come in.

Yes I did exactly that. And she started speaking to me in cantonese and waving her hands around. I had no idea wat she was saying. She seemed to say she didnt have them, but if she doesnt have them, and the other tenants dont have them, and post office doesnt have them, yet people are sending them....WHERE THE F*CK ARE THEY???????? UGHHHH Im so upset

That is very frustrating. Do you not have an email for your landlord?

Maybe you can send her a message to tell her mom to deliver the responses?

Do a mail stop. Have the post office hold all mail inbound to you there so that you can eventually go to the post office and pick it up. A lot of people do this when they go away on vacation.

Nope. They are very old school, I doubt she even has an email. I tried calling her but her phone is off, and her mailbox is full. I dont even know when she gets back. I hate her guts right now.

Can you have your mail temporarily sent to a friend or relatives house? If you go on the post office website, there is a spot for mail forwarding. You can specify the address you want your mail forwarded to and the timeframe. It costs $1.

I didnt even know you could do that! We decided to buy a mailbox with a lock and key, put our last names on it, and put it in front of the house. Regardless if I get all future responses from here on out, Ive lost the majority of my responses already and now I have to call people to see if they sent it or not. How embaressing is that!!???!!!!

Wow! how completely frustrating !So sorry you have to deal with this, how ridiculous. I like the idea of putting a hold on your mail at the post office and just being able to go pick it up, I think i'd do that at this point.

Go to your local post office and make sure they know that it says 'Future Mr. and Mrs.'. Maybe they can offer some help.
