I am looking for a reception site for a more 'casual ' wedding

Hello,

I am looking for a reception site for about 150 people. However, we are looking do have a very simple party...not the tradtional large, fancy affair. I want it to be more on the casual side of things:
- About 3 to 4 hours time frame
-No large cocktail hour ...maybe just something simple as guests arrive- such as hordorves (sp?) passed ect.

-A buffet supper or sit down. I guess I am think of a cocktail hour as the dinner...with a few carving sations ect

-cake with a dessert and coffee hour

I have no idea where to look. If anyone has any ideas for me... I thank you in advance! I also posted on the vendors board..in hopes that a vendor on the site does this.

You might want to try one of the smaller country clubs. They may be more flexible over big catering halls.
You could also look into renting a big house and bringing in your own caterer. That way you can customize your menu. There's a lot of that out east.

i wanted the same thing-real simple but elegant. anyway, i found that my best bet was like the above post states, a country club etc. we decided to go with a nearby yacht club which is perfect for a simple affair like you mentioned

Re: I am looking for a reception site for a more 'casual ' wedding

A lot of places offer what you are looking for but mostly on Sundays or some other day that wouldn't be too busy. You might want to check out the Sans Souci in Sea Cliff. I got married there last September and everything was fabulous - Totally not over-the-top. Feel free to FM me with any questions you might have -
Good luck!
