I am new here...i NEED your help!

Original post by Ilovebriani

Hi all i am a new 08 bride YAY! i need your advice...i am planning an AM wedding ceremony at my church. (probably 10am)....the reception hall i want is only available at 12:30-5:30pm, and is a half an hour from the church (without traffic) on the date that i want. Is this not enough time in between church and coctail hour?? We want to take pictures between the ceremony and coctail hour. (outside church and at reception hall) I just dont want our guests to arrive at the coctail hour in the middle of us taking pictures (since CH is outside, we would be taking pics in the same place)...i am really freaking out about this. We can change our date and get a 1:30-6:30 time slot for reception but would end up spending about $4000 total more. any advice? if i really need to i will just change the date, but i was hoping to avoid that, and put the 4K to something else. We are thinking of just doing wedding ceremony and not a full service to save time, but would that make much of a difference?? PLEASE give me your opinions! Thanks!

if you're even slightly concerned, i wouldn't do it. you never know what little things might eat up time, and if you're pushing it, you're going to feel rushed and aggitated and you might miss your cocktail hour. if you do decide to go for it, i would put 9:30 as the start time on your invitations to make sure your guests are there AT 10 so that you can start promptly. can you cut out the receiving line to save time???

It's not enough time. You will need 1 to 2 hours for your photos.

My church is at 11:00 and my CH starts at 1:30...It is also about a half hour. I plan on getting to go to 1/2 of the CH after pictures.
I think you will be OK. I got my RH to start a half hour later, but it took a lot of phone calls from my dad!

My daughter got married at the Sand castle, they have 2 floors and the cocktail hour was down stairs SO they took as many pics as they can down stairs then went up stairs to take more as the guest arrived. The staff also know that my daughter didn't want anyone to see her SO they made sure everyone went right in to the cocktail hour. It all worked out, they even took more shots down stairs once the party started. Just let you photo people know what you want that is what they do for a living.
